My $0.02 worth - How about calling the software "Portico" (an entryway to our entertainment/information media). The short name could be P2VR (PPVR.com has been taken) for Portico PVR.
johnsonx42 Wrote:So my vote for the name ultimately comes back to "NextPVR" as the common name, "NPVR" for short, and "NextPVR Mediacenter" as the full, complete name (or Mediacentre if you must).
I'm sure we all want to laud my prescience for being the first to suggest what appears to have become the final full name of NPVR - the graphic at the top of the forum clearly says "NextPVR mediacentre".
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV
As far as I'm concerned, its called NextPVR. The "mediacenter" part of the name is just there because I could be bothered asking steeb to remove it when he asked me to post the logo. I'd rather chew my arm off than keep talking about the application name (Sorry!). Nothing I've produced has this in the name.
The title bar of the app still shows "nPVR", and the settings screen show "N-PVR". Not that I care (I always liked G3PVR), but the System plugin currently lists the app's version, and I'd like to know whether NextPVR, nPVR, or N-PVR should be used there.

I've fixed the Settings screen to say NextPVR for the next release of the application. The inconsistency was really from the early days when I wasnt exactly sure what I was going to call it, and I just hadnt got around to going back and updating it. (In the forums I'll call it either NextPVR or NPVR, the latter of which is just a shortening of the name for convenience.)
I havnt changed the nPVR in the main window, because I'm worred about it breaking remote control support, since most people use external utilities that specifically look for that title bar. I guess I'll have to do that change at some stage though.

It is a logo. We have been round and round and round again
I'm with sub because every time he asks me to change something I have to/or ask others to change it all over again. What we have is what we have. This has gone round and round. We have decisons. They may not be right. But they may not be wrong. This has to end now
Sub has agreed to end it with a decision
We have worked our best to deliver the decision
and quite frankly this has all been discussed before, and this saga has gone on for 6 months.
The only person that I would listen to and take advice from at this point is sub
steeb
(had to say that sub because I saw my name used in a post )
