I installed NPVR right beside GBPVR, so no change in HW or BDA drivers. With GB-PVR I can view encypted channels with the CI/CAM interface. But with NPVR I get a black screen. Other channels are fine.
I have a three tuner setup where two tuners that has no CI serves only free channels. And my Twinhan DTV Ter-CI (shows as a filter name with 878 in it) serves only the encrypted channels.

logs are attached

I'm not sure what the returned codes mean, Sub will have to answer that, but I can see that Nrecord fails to connect a filter when starting a graph. Have you tried excluding ffdshow?

I am just guessing, but in some cases you might need to copy a certain dll from the vendor to NPVR directroy.

At this stage I've only tested WinTV-CI, TechnoTrend CI and FireDTV CI with NPVR. I'm guessing I'll need to dig through my pile of cards to find one of my Twinhan CI cards to check this out for you. Unfortunately it's not great timing for me though. I'm totally snowed under with day job stuff.

Ok, that probably explains it. I seem to remember there was a specific SDK from Twinhan to support CI, and that probably needs some engineering to integrate. I do hope you have a copy of it because it seems Twinhan is out of business and their site is down...
But I can confirm that it worked well in GB-PVR. Sometimes a few dropouts, but at least more stable than any MDAPI-setup that I had struggled to get going.

I made a fresh install of my HTPC yesterday from my old XP to Win 7 x64. And the issues with CI are the same, and I haven't installed ffdshow at all here so that is not interfering.

I will be trying the mdplugin route once again to see if the new solutions work better. But it would be nice to have a CI fallback if someting happens. I hope you find time eventually.

As long as you have a Phoenix (or compatible) smartcard reader it should be no problem setting up a softcam with cardserver (like Acamd and NewCS). The benefit is that you can record more that one channel simoultanously, provided they are on the same frequency.

Yes, multi-recording with multidec is truely a holy grail that I have been hoping for for a long time. And yes! It works! (Especially since I found that instances-setting Big Grin)
I would not say that all is super stable yet, I have had numerous problems during my testing. Sometimes the decoding from acamd/newcs just stops and a server restart is needed. But that is beta for you Smile

I have the same problem, ie blank screen while watching encrypted channels with my Twinhan DTV Ter-CI. It works great in GBPVR on the same computer. If you have some time over for some digging, Sub, it will be greatly appreciated

Thought I´d bump this to remind you. If you want to review the logfiles, just tell me.
