When I installed NPVR I received several errors related to folder not found.

Didn't think much of it until I tried to enable web server.

Did some searching and... I think the problem is it is trying to install to Windows 7 standard public shared folders.

I think I can work around this if someone can tell me the install location of the npvr.db3 file.

*** EDIT **** Found the post from last night "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\" in http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...s-NPVR.DB3

Will try work around and post back what happens. **** EDIT **** this fixed the install errors.

A future fix for NPVR would be to create the folders if they are not found during the install.

Did not fix Server/Client problem.

****EDIT**** Client machine has no reference to npvr.db3 file in the registry. Server machine found one npvr.db3 file in reg. under Search Assistant, acmru, 5603. Still need help. When I start client...error "server database not found"

Thanks

Uninstalling NPVR leaves the HKLM\Software\NPVR section. You can then change the InstallDirectory and DataDirectory to your own choices and re-install.

The folder would then be available during the install. A future fix for NPVR would be to create the folders if they are not found during the install.

Suggestions... a work around?

Thanks

It works. In fact, on my first install on XP I just created C:\Users and then Public under users and NPVR installed straight into it. From my point of view much easyer than mocking around with "My Documents" and stuff that changes name from language to language.

I guess I don't understand what the real problem was and after reading your two edits I'd just ignore this suggestion if things are working now.

First off...Thanks for the help.

My problem is not fixed. On the client machine I still get the Error "server database not found at :\\400sc\users\public\npvr.db3.

On the server machine "400SC" I now get a new window "MVP server" it is blank, nothing on it. I still cannot find the npvr.db3 file on the server machine.

That is why I'm thinking I need to clear the registry before reinstall, but really just don't know.

you should share only the NPVR directory and point to it on the client. If this is a PC-client the number of MPV-servers should be 0.

Ok, now understand more about MVP after reading...Thanks...I have set MPV server to 0.
I have shared only the NPVR directory on the server "400SC" and I am pointing the PC-Client to it.

Error now reads "Server database not found at :\\400sc\program files\npvr\npvr.db3"

I'm wondering if this error doesn't stem from the original install on XP when the folder Users\public was not available. I still can't find this npvr.db3 file. Does this file get created during the install? Instructions on how to clear the registry of all NPVR files for a clean install might help. Really confused...don't want to give up...like the potential functionality.

The support file aren't in the Program Files on XP I think they are in the hidden directory

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\

This is the folder that needs to be shared too.
