Multi Channel Record one Tuner MDPLUGIN, multidec

I want to record more than one channel on an ATSC tuner. Settings, Devices, Tuner ATSC selected, Device Setup, for the Digital Recorder Settings page. The Selection for Common Interface is not active. This is where I would need to set instances to 2? Can this be done with an ATSC tuner? Do I need to install a plugin? Thanks for the help!

Multidec and multirec aren't the same thing. ATSC signals shouldn't need multidec, but multirec would only work on broadcasts that have more than one stream on one "channel" or frequecy. On your TV that might be 2.1, 2.2 etc. via the ATSC tuner Sometimes you will find more the one PBS stations doing this but otherwise I don't think it is that common.

Multi-record is always enabled, you don't need to do anything special to enable it (multidec and CI, etc. are for the rest of the world, not North America). As Martin points out however, multi-record is rarely useful on broadcast ATSC. While many channels do have a sub-channel or two, the sub-channels are almost always garbage channels you wouldn't want to record from anyway. Aside from contrived test situations, I think I've only seen multi-record actually happen 'by itself' once in the last 3 months (a kids' show was recording on a main pbs channel, and a bbq show recorded on a sub channel).

I only get 6 channels, 3 are PBS....It would be nice to record two at the same time....Limited choices!
