I understand that there is some support for software tuners in NPVR but am not sure how to set it up correctly? I'm using a Vista machine that is currently running a Hauppauge 150 and I have WinTV 7 installed so I assume that the necessary SoftPVR .ax files are registered. Do I run filtercheck and add the name to the direct.ini per the GBPVR documentation? NPVR already has the HD filters in the BDA.ini. It works fine on QAM. Thanks.

That wouldnt be the case. The PVR150 is a hardware encoder device, so no software encoders are installed with WinTV7.

Thanks sub. Unfortunately the alternate link is dead on Johnson's help page, and I don't find anything when searching for hcw_*.* in the WinTV 7 installation files.

OK, get the WinTV 7 download and open it. It will unpack some of the drivers but not the installation files which include the SoftPVR files. Start the intallation process with the Hauppauge card in the machine but without the Hauppauge CD in the drive. When the installation process asks for the original Hauppauge cd via a pop-up window, run a search in Windows Explorer for "hcw_*.*". The installation files will be unpacked at this point so you should get roughly 10 files. Look for the files from a SoftPVR folder (I had one other hcw_ file appear in the search field) and copy those files into a folder. You can cancel the installation and roll back any changes. Open a command prompt with Administrator permission, and run regsvr32 on the 3 .ax files and hopefully the SoftPVR files will be installed. I assume I'm good to go on SoftPVR and guessing I do need to add the name to the direct.ini since I still don't see the device in NPVR.

I see that I have not paid close enough attention to the help page (I swear I did read it before asking), and that I am supposed to edit the AnalogDevices.xml. I've run filtercheck but I'm at a loss on how to construct the entry based on sub's instructions: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...post386495

I don't see either an encoder or multiplexer in the log (attached). Sorry to be asking already answered questions.

I guess it is?

<Device filter="HDTV Stick Analog Capture">
<Name>Mygica U6012 Analog</Name>
<Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
</Device>

Shows up which is a good start.

wow, that's funny... you posted yours while I was still typing mine, and we both chose "Mygica U6012 Analog" as the display name; sure it's an obvious choice, but still interesting that one of us didn't choose "Mygica HDTV Stick Analog" or something else.

I hadn't seen your reply until now. Thanks. I would say "great minds think alike", but instead I am concerned for you. I know me, and my mind needs a little help Smile.

I have a different problem now. Unfortunately, I am getting only random noise on either SD or HD TV. I can't figure out what I've screwed up. I've attached my log files. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
