I have seen several posts where people have written they have no problem with EVR but don't want to use it. I have used EVR since sub introduced it and I think it works really well. I don't understand the concern what is the downside to using something that works?

a very good question... the day sub made negative aspect ratios work with EVR was the happiest day of my life. I turned on EVR and never looked back.

I think those that don't want to use EVR are still using XP. They don't know what they're missing. Big Grin

whurlston, does it perform worse than VMR on XP? The users still say it works.

I *thought* the complaint was that on XP EVR has little or no hardware acceleration (DXVA I mean). So it may work, but with high CPU use. I never personally tried EVR on XP though, so I don't know for sure.

yep, that's mainly it, no full acceleration...you still can get deinterlacing so not totally unsable..
and the aspect ratio thing was a problem till he fixed that...
but now just acceleration... and dvd playback weirdness...

i'd think users with lower end hardware might be using xp and would need the accel most of all..
npv works best on win7/vista..

I need to ask because I dont have nor tried win 7 or NPVR...

1. With NPVR, EVR aspect ratios can be changed to fill screen on QAM channels?
2. Can custom tasks be run with EVR?

I use EVR on Win7 and VMR FSE on XP, and notice no difference in picture quality between the two. Once GBPVR is running I often forget which OS I have booted into!
One thing I miss in EVR is the the more flexible OSD menu of GBPVR, for example in EVR you can't keep TV playing whilst going back to the main menu and selecting the fulll TV guide or browsing recordings, you have to stop TV first. Video inset still works in VMR also.
I have not yet got round to trying NPVR so will be interesting to see the OSD in that.

These were the other things I wanted to know besides my previous post.
