The power supply fan went out on my trusty old IBM GBPVR rig on the same day that I paid my credit card down to $0.00

Going to be a busy weekend. Wish me luck!

Is that just 1 x box of 2gb RAM or is there another hiding behind???

Well done Santa!

And of course good luck. What O/S will you be running with that Windows 7?

I love the smell of a new burn in!
I'm also a huge fan of ASUS motherboards. Never let me down.

Yep, just 2gb of ram for now. Since neither of my previous 2 GBPVR machines had more than 500megs I'm hoping it will be sufficient. For the moment I'm sticking with my old PATA drives, Windows XP and the single PVR 150 I bought in 2005.

Nice,

like pcostanza said there's nothing quite like the smell of a new burn in!

2gb RAM should really beef it up with XP. (I'm still on XP but hey I'm boring, if it ain't broke...)

I was going to ask about the lack of a new hdd featured in your screenshot but forgot, so thanks for anwering that question, if the PATA works!

Once again can't wait for updates on how the build goes Big Grin

Just love this homebuild stuff!

Yeh, think he's going for it! Only other thing I would have questioned was this PSU in a Silverstone case, noise? But with quality 750W PSU taking much lesser than needed load will it run fairly quiet, I can't wait for updates!

Update: All the hardware went together fine, got a fresh XP install running. I'm on my network and online. Unfortunately, the whole project has been derailed by Hauppauge. I cannot find the original disk that came with the PVR 150 I bought 5 years ago. I knew I didn't have it so I checked the website before I got started. I saw they have the whole software package available for download so thought I was covered. Great! Unfortunately, the software will not install without the original disc in the tray. The website says nothing about this. What stupidity! I will not be buying another Hauppauge product.

I'm at a standstill for now. Anyone have any ideas?

This requirement was added to WinTV7 a couple of years ago after running afoul of 3rd party decoder licensing agreements. (would cost millions of dollars to supply decoders to people that bought MCE versions of products, since these devices are intended for use with MCE, and dont include the decoder licensing fees required to use WinTV)

Do you really need WinTV though? You can still download the drivers from their website. If you're just trying to install WinTV7 so you get the MainConcept mux required for analog support in NPVR, then you can get this on your machine other ways: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...READ!!!!**

Thanks for the reply sub. You explanation of the Hauppauge issue makes sense. I wasn't planning on making the jump to NPVR just yet but if it will get me around this roadblock, I'll give it a try.
