I should have said what "Blaster.exe" works, I want to use the IRBlaster from the 2250 to change the STB channels...

Am now trying to use my 2250 for IR Blasting my Motorola DCT2224 STB for changing channels (under Win7 / nPVR 1.5.33)

So far, under: Device Setup/Hauppage WinTV-7164 Analog Capture I have tried the following executables:
1) WinTV7/TVServer/Blast.exe (Args: {channel} )
2) HaupBlast.exe (Args: {channel} ) (from previous GB-PVR installed on WinXP-SP2 box - which BTW worked flawlessly on same STB)
neither of these .exe's so much as flashes a red light at the STB - but I worry that the 'args' are not correct - but have found no alternative)

I ran the WinTV7/BlastCfg.exe (v 7.3.28035) and to confirm electrical connection, the "IR Channel Test - Send" does push a red flash at the STB (yes. the blaster xmitter is right up against the STB receiver)
However, proceeding to "Learning Action" section the result is failure due to "Remote does not support toggle bit - retry learning" this was a never-ending loop. In a phone call to Hauppauge Support, they walked me through the same steps - but no joy, and no answers.

Being unable to control the STB for channel changing is a show stopper here.

Anyone out there running the HVR-2250 by blasting their STB ??
I'd really appreciate any light you might be able to shed on this.

By chance, is you 1600 installed as well? If so, will it blast from it?

Hi Snooze, thanks for replying,

The 1600 is PCI but the new Win7 box with nPVR is PCIe only. The 1600 did blast under GB-PVR on the Win XP box, so I tried the HauppBlast.exe from that box on the new box for thje 2250 - but no joy.

Could never get the old WinXP box to run nPVR - so after buying a new box with enough horsepower to run nPVR (well) it's a bit ironic that there's no way (yet?) to get the also new 2250 to control our STB.

New computer, new tv card, new NMT - no working system, kind of expensive to attempt to upgrade to nPVR when such a small link in the chain fails.

If the 1600 is still in the machine, remove the 2250 in device manager, reboot and reinstall it. The card blasting needs to be the last installed card. The card blasting should also be in the slot closest to the processor, if you have a choice of more than one slot.

If that doesnt work, reset defaults in system bios. Hope this works!

Hey again Snooze,

Sorry if I was unclear, the 1600 (PCI) won't go in the new Win7 box - and the 2250 (PCIe) won't go into the old WinXP box.

Using all Hauppauge swe in the WinXP/GB-PVR box, the 1600 changed channels fine.

Using same STB & remotes but hooked to new Win7/nPVR box, the 2250 can be coaxed to send signals (the IR transmitter blinks as expected) but the codes are not recognized by the STB. And the Hauppauge WinTV v7) BlastCfg.exe will not 'learn' the codes - explained in first post above.

I don't get it - so I hoped there was some relevant experience here on the usually killer forum - but thanks for your ideas anyway.

TomH,

Did you ever get this going? I am having the same issues (almost the identical reasons, etc.). I am able to use WMC and it blasts fine to two separate boxes. I get the toggle bit problem also and can't find a way to get past it. I want to move over to NPVR but need to get the blaster working.

Bigbus,

Sorry to report that I have NOT found any solution to the blasting problem (toggle bit).

I am stuck with using the 2250 as a tuner for only the QAM channels - which is not anywhere near what I want.

I did borrow an (oldish) WinMCE puck setup, but couldn't get that to do the deed either.

Sad state of affairs after leaving a very stable GB-PVR setup with an old 1800 card that was blasting just fine.

There are TWO boxed versions of the 2250 - which version do you have ??? - the one I have did NOT come with the IR blaster included (the model of 2250 other does) so I was using the cable & transmitter from my 1800.

If you have the 2250 version that includes the IR Blaster accessory...??? I'd appreciate hearing that. As I have been considering buying one of those to see if that's the problem.

Cheers,

Probably cheaper to just buy an USBUIRT, it works. Smile

Reddwarf,

Thanks fore adding that - hadn't been thinking in that direction.

Do you have knowledge any specific products that are known to work?

Thanks very much,

Just to be clear - this sounds like a BlastCFG problem to me, rather than any problem with NPVR. Either HaupBlast.exe or Hauppauge's Blast.exe should be fine in NPVR, but it does of course rely on you having first configured or learned your set top box remote in BlastCFG, which seems to be where things are falling down for you.
