Does anyone have step by step instructions for renaming recordings automatically? I have two channels recording non-stop and I need the episodic information, which is provided by schedules direct for about 90% of the shows. I need it to be set up ShowTitle - EpisodeTitle. If I don't get this to rename automatically, I will have to watch enough of each episode to find the title for hundreds of episodes, not fun. Please someone save me from countless hours of boring work.

Unfortunately that is not true. The season/episode information is not available in the schedules direct data. It does have unique show identifier, but this is not resolveable to identify the season/episode info.

So there is no way to extract the subtitle information that is given on the bottom when I have a show selected and have the file renamed to that?

Ah, sorry - I just reread your post. I thought your were asking for the season/episode info, which is a relatively common question. (damn skim reading let me down again)

You're right that the subtitle info is available. There is nothing built in to do this, but I can try add an option for it in the next release. The problem is often epgs just use a generic subtitle for every episode. Its not as common in the US, but is a big problem in the rest of the world. In this case it'd like have to slap some date-time info on the end of the filename to avoid clashes.

So is there a way in NextPVR to rename recordings?
in GBPVR I used a program called RenameRecording.exe that was called in PostProcessing.bat that would change the recording name from:

Show Name - Date-Time --> Show Name - Episode Name
It looks like the program RenameRecording.exe was built specific for gbpvr and its database since after it renames the episode it needs to update the db to reflect the new name.

RenameRecording.exe was a utility built by one of the community members. It was build for GBPVR's database. They'd have to change it (or develop a similar utility) to use the NPVR database for it to work there.

I need the subtitles too. I don't see them in 2.0.3, but maybe the next version? Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to add this. I'll try again for the next release.

Sorry no - it never made it far enough up the to-do list.
