I have seen it called...
  • NPVR (In the systray and Start Menu)
  • N-PVR (within the NPVR start Menu folder and in ABOUT)
  • I have also seen nPVR and NextPVR in other places.

So what is the name to be?

I am still hoping for HDPVR or PVRHD.

There seemed to be clear favourite, with many people hating the options, so it'll probably just leave it as it is. Officially it'd be 'NextPVR', since I was able to get "nextpvr.com" but not "npvr.com". We'd probably abbreviate to NPVR or N-PVR quite ofteen I guess.

sub,

I really appreciate everything you do for all of us. As a thank you for all your hard work, I went ahead and registered http://npvr.tv/ which I will happily give to you. I think the $30 it cost to register it was cheap for the awesome program you give away for free. Just send me your information so I can transfer ownership to you.

Thanks, but as I've said before - I only really want a name where I can get the ".com". I wish you'd not gone ahead on that one. Sorry.

No problem. I canceled the order and the money was easily refunded.

Sub, if you're lucky guy, then you could take the domain in december 2011. ;D

By the way, the current owner (DAINA TRADING COMPANY LIMITED) owns a few thousand domains. In germany you could fight for this domain, if your need is bigger (it is, your software is called like this) as the need of the company (i don't find any hint for using npvr.com as domain for this company).

OR! You just write a nice email to nopalxochia@mail.ru (it's the email adress used by whois for the npvr.com domain).

Otherwise... perhaps we give this masterpiece another name. ^^ "PVR" is just... just... so worthless, compared with this software. ;D The biggest usage by me is the streaming capability and the mediacenter. Something with "central" or "station" as suggested already in the namepolling perhaps. ^^; .oO(Yeah... i can see sub running around while thinking about another name. XD).

EDIT: Moved to another topic. Wink

I did exchange a couple of emails with them a few months back. I could have it for US$700, but that is too rich for this project.

700$ ... phew... crazy guys. But i am sure, that a few people are willing to pay those prices for a needed domain. -.-

I am not rich, but i would spent a few eus, if you REALLY want to get it.

Nah, I'm not that fussed. I'll just leave it as is.
