Hello all,

I upgraded NPVR from 1.5.33 to 1.5.36 (using the NMTInstall2 program)

Set MVP/NMT number of servers to 5 (there are 2 MVPs + 1 M34A NMT)

At that point I was getting "No streaming server found" on both MVPs

Searching the forum I found the new mvpmc dongle (12/31/2010 version) which I installed
* then restarted NPVR services and
* cold started the MVP
-- still getting "No streaming server found"

Repeated attempts at having MVP rescan (to find streaming server) produce no result - except the error message.

I can confirm that...
Firewall is set trusted range 192.168.2.1 -- 192.168.2.12
Router indicates IP for MVP is 192.168.2.6 (verified via MAC addr)
MVP screen shows same 192.168.2.6

The IP for the NPVR machine is 192.168.2.4

The MVP.log says

I really would appreciate some help here as the logs tell me nothing that I can understand by way of problem

If there's more info needed please advise.

If your NMT is working and the servers are set to 5, I would suspect you don't have config.xml set with the correct dongle name. Either that are your firewall is not configured properly for sending the dongle on tftp by UDP.

Martin - thanks for responding,

I had backed-up the previous dongle.bin (12/23/10 version) then renamed dongle.npvr.bin (12/31/11 version) to dongle.bin

No, the M34A NMT is not getting to NPVR. Here's what happened from the beginning... after the upgrade, the M34A gave a no share error msg and immediate BSOD to Win7. I found that (after the upgrade) //TOM-HP/mvpmc was no longer shared so I created a new share for that and it eliminated the BSOD.

The M34A now gives me the HTML page and after waiting the 3-seconds - I get an all white screen which after a while goes to black which after a longer while eventually goes back to the NMT menu - then does it all over again...

I did another check of IP's and found that there was what I presume is an 'aged' version of npvr.cgi because it had outdated IP's from the initial install back before Christmas - so I edited the npvr.cgi to reflect the new IP for the NPVR server (192.168.2.4) - but still no joy

re: you comment "firewall is not configured properly for sending the dongle on tftp by UDP"
I use ZoneAlarm (free) and could see no reference to "tftp by UDP" so I am at your mercy to provide any kind of pointer for me on that aspect.

EDIT Except that.. previously the firewall was not prohibiting the M34A from getting to NPVR successfully (before the upgrade)

Based on the description of your NMT problem, I almost certain it is firewall related. NextPVR.exe has to be allowed UDP and TCP access on your local LAN.

Martin,

I altered the firewall settings so that the local network (Trusted Zone) would have no firewall protection and was iimmediately rewarded - thanks for the good advice. From that point I had the following capabilities on the M34A
Native NMT
a. nPVR started and appeared to operate as expected
b. PlayOn free streamed content started and worked as expected
NPVR via NMT
a. Live TV worked
b. All Recordings .ts played fine
c. Universe/PlayOn (free streamed content) started and worked

I then added the NetFlix (Instant Queue) subscription feed to PlayOn - and under NPVR (over M34A), attempts to watch a movie resulted in dead screen. Doing 'Stop' / 'Back' finally got ne back to NMT menu - but trying to reenter NPVR got me a BSOD as a reward.

After rebooting Win7 - as previously I got BSOD'ed until I reset the mvpmc share yet again. And even after eliminating the BSOD response, I could no longer get NPVR to come up on the NMT.

Today did a complete reinstall using NMTInstall2.exe (but killing the c:\mvpmc\ directory beforehand)... after setting up mvpmc share on Win7 again...
1. I can get the native M34A menu and PlayOn with NetFlix is working fine.
2. NPVR running on the PC runs fine but now the Universe/PlayOn just shows the "Buffered nnnn" screen for a few values of buffered then reverts the underlying screen.
3. But, no NPVR on the NMT - by that I mean: after selecting the mvpmc share onm the NMT menu, it renders the index.HTML file but it just
goes to black, waits a minute comes back to the NMT menu.

Would really appreciate any ideas you might have based on the info above NMT Syntax Check and share log follows

You really shouldn't have deleted the mvpmc share because you also removed guest access, which would show like this in cacls

Code:
C:\mvpmc          EMVEEPEE\Guest:(OI)(CI)R

If you are getting BSOD's in Windows something has got to be wrong with your NextPVR config, your logs would be needed.

If Universe/PlayOn/Netflix don't connect that sounds like a firewall problem (or your Netflix account info is set incorrectly.

I'm surprised PlayOn works on your NMT. If hangs for me after playing on show and I have to reboot.

Martin,
I'm going to reply to one of your points at a time - so I can reproduce things and get logs as I go through them...

On 'Guest' access - I had presumed that a complete NMTInstall2 reinstall (including mvpmc) that all needed shares would have been reste during (re)install

As of now the cacls says
---------------------------------------
Code:
C:\>cacls mvpmc
C:\mvpmc tom-hp\tom:(OI)(CI)F
         BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)F
         BUILTIN\Administrators:F
         BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(IO)F
         NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F
         NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)F
         tom-hp\Guest:(OI)(CI)F
         Everyone:(OI)(CI)F
-----------------------------------------------

Is this correct?

More to come, thanks - TomH

That is better. NMTInstall2 does run cacls but Guest sharing needs more than this maybe even a reboot in 64 bit.

Okay, here's part 2 - the BSOD logs

After I sent the above cacls info I started M34A and attempted to connect to the mvpmc share and got instant BSOD - so the attached logs are 'fresh' so to speak Wink

More anon,
