Worthy of a small "woo" I guess, although I'd rather have Film4 HD Big Grin

Basically negates any need to get a Freeview HD tuner now, which is good for me as my Freeview reception can fluctuate quite a bit during the year (due to trees).

Woo indeed!! I've been watching digitalspy for ages for this to happen but haven't bothered reading recently Big Grin Very good for me on the east coast of Ireland as the Freeview HD would have been too Welsh for C4HD!

Just took a look at digitalspy and they raise a good point, wonder if they have bought the slot on the BBC transponder and if it'll go S2 now...

Yeah, it's always a risk. I might not need a DVB-T2 tuner now, but a Dual DVB-S2 will probably cost as much, and I believe it's a bit of a crapshoot picking an S2 card that works with GBPVR/NPVR.

No, it's fairly simple - stick with a Hauppauge DVB-S2 device, and it'll do DVB-S2.

Do they do any dual tuners in S2 though?

No, but you can use more than one device, assuming you have multiple slots available. At least you know it'll work for S2.

Looks like it might well be DVB-S2.

Hmm, interesting. Most on that forum assumed it'd go on the BBC tp so wonder if that'll go S2.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think now. If it does go S2, it would be nice if it did it on its own, so we don't lose access to BBC1 HD and BBC HD while we try to sort out suitable replacement tuner cards. I also wouldn't feel like I'd lost anything by not having it (straight away) either.
