Martin, when I was beta testing Roxio 2011, they had something called Roxio Streamer which I found out caused trouble with the NMT. I shut off the service and problems went away. I did install Roxio a week ago (and the NMT worked ok) and this time, I did not install the Streamer service. However, I'm seeing it in my firewall so I'm going to play with some tweaking and check to see if by chance, that's still a culprit. I may need to reach my Roxio connection to get a few answers first.

Ok, I can't see it being a problem, it's likely just a UPnP server, but it might be messing with your firewall or causing a port conflict.
Edit: A couple of searches and I see that it is more than UPnP. I still don't see how it get in the way. I have about 3 web servers, 5 UPnP servers, all happily running together right now. Martin

It's definitely not the Roxio Streamer...it's not anywhere on the system. I've verified that with Roxio.
I remember some problems with another re-image that I finally ended up just formatting and starting over. Someway, somehow, the imaging must have a conflict. Thanks for your help and time. Problems in reconnecting sometimes come from NextPVR blocking so the MVP server doesn't restart. You may need to do do
taskkill /IM NextPVR.exe /f from time to time. Feel free to upload logs anytime. Martin

I do seem to be able to get to NVPR everytime I try now but while I can view the photos, I'm not able to get Live TV, Recordings, Videos or listen to music. The vids and songs show in the list but they never start or play.
I can view and watch anything using the native NMT software. It's working as advertised. It's just NPVR. There's got to be a conflict I'm overlooking. I have lots more free time tonite and some tomorrow so I'll keep at it. At this point is sound firewall related. Check to see that NRecord is allowed through your firewall for TCP on the local LAN. NextPVR needs TCP and UDP.

I can say that when I put TV listings back on, I lost any connection with NPVR. With it removed, I can at least schedule recordings and that works but no live functions. Both NRecord and NextPVR have both TCP and UDP allowed.
However, once an item has been added to the firewall, you usually get a message if you try to add it again that it's already there. Well, as you can see by the attachment, it let me add NPVR and NRecord again as a second instance. So far, adding this again has made no difference but it's obvious I have some house cleaning to do so I'll keep digging as I do agree, this smells of a firewall problem. Just turning off the firewall completely hasn't helped either even with UAC completey off. Guess Microsoft trusts no one. Did you reboot? Many 64 bit users need to do this after changing the firewall rules.
As for UAC, you might have an NextPVR.exe in the VirtualStore. NPVR is UAC aware, but you can unzip patches incorrectly. Martin
