Thanks for this plugin Martin - I just loaded it yesterday to check it out and see if would handle a particular style of searching. Alas, it doesn't appear to, but maybe 2.0 will (wishful thinking!)

At present, the better half regularly goes through the EPG TV Guide in nPVR, looking for movies to record from her favorite channels. In the old days when we used paper guides, she'd go through the channel listings containing an alphabetical list of the movie title with descriptions and time, put a ring around the ones to watch.

What I was hoping SearchLite would be able to do is to display a list of shows on a selected (favorites?) channel(s), (ie search for all shows on a given channel, rather than search for a show name) from which one could read the description (as we can now), and chose which epsiode/time to record when there are multiple screenings of the same show. Even better, if the show had already been programed to record, this would be highlighted, so that it won't be scheduled a second time.

Any chance this can be added to the wish list if there is oneWink. I'm willing to offer to help code if it helps

Not exactly what you want, but you can do some of this already. The EWA/NEWA lets you limit your search to certain channels. If you have the TV Listings plug-in, you can create custom guides that show only certain channels. Also, when you do a Find More for a specific show, the NPVR version of the plug-in will display any that you have already recorded. I know I've gone to record a movie and realized I had recorded it already and never got around to watching it.

There are are couple of ways to do this type of thing already. If it is only movies you want and your EPG is like mine and it rates movies using the XMLTV <star-rating> then SearchLite will quickly filter and display movies by rating. Use the period value to search (. = all movies .. = 2+ .. = 3+ .... = 4 Star).

If your EPG doesn't use ratings you probably could fake it pretty easily with a SQL call in the PostUpdateEPG.bat file, adding a rating to the channels you want to search.

The other way to do this is to create and save a query in NEWA limiting it to the channels you want. You can leave the search text blank and create filters for channels, and time if you want. In SearchLite activate the top menu and select Recall to get a list of saved searches. Select the one you want and use the Run option either from the dialog or by pressing Play or Ctrl-P

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I saw TVListings plugin but haven't tried this out yet.

Unfortunately I scrape with TVxb, and no such details are available - might try the PostUpdate solution.

I like this idea, but have never really used NEWA. Everything we do is via the remote. Where does one set up a NEWA query as you describe? Nothing seemed to come up a being obvious in a quick search of the forum/wiki

Is there a new NEWA-NPVR version, because mine doesn't seem to have any obvious [Episode] Search Tab, just TVGuide, Manage Recordings, Video Library, Music Library, Photo Library, Statistics, Manual Record tabs.

EDIT:

I just noted that if I use IE, I get an episode search tab, but if I use firefox, I do not.

Thank Martin - There's no config tab in my firefox browser either! IE seems ok, so I've got something to start to play with now. Thank you for your patience
