I've finally taken the plunge and bought a new 46" Plasma TV and now want to actually move into the year 2011 and think about recording and playing back HD content.

Question is, can my system handle it? (see signature)

Any suggestions for newer video card, RAM, CPU etc welcome. Thanks!

Yes, should be able to (with the addition of a DVB-T tuner). H.264 video plays back nicer under Win7 though, which might be something worth considering.

Thanks guys. Yes I have considered upgrading GB-PVR many times - even to a later version. But to be honest 1.2.13 works well for what I use it for now. It's been running for about 2yrs now - very reliable! I am going to have a look at NPVR soon though promise... Smile

In order to add a DVB-T card and consolidate my tuners so I have Analog, DVB-S and DVB-T covered I was thinking of replacing the PVR-150 with this:

http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=...VR1300--PA

Is this a good way to go? Anyone have a better idea?

If you're getting video from a digital channel, then its definitely receiving the audio as well, so it'll be some form of play back problem. It'll most likely just be an issue with the decoder you're using. Try another decoder. If it doesnt help, post your logs in the support forum and we'll take a look.

I think you'd be better off with the HVR2200 - it's dual tuners, not sure about the 1300.
It's also cheaper on the PBtech site.
It does analog & dvb-t

EDIT: now looking at your specs you have an AGP card. So guessing you don't have even a PCIe x 1 slot on the mb then?
