Hi all, I've been reading the forums for some time but this is my first post, so be gentle Wink

I've been using GB-PVR 1.4.7 for a little while now and tried to make the switch to NPVR 2.0.3 recently, but ran into a problem with support for my tuner.

I use a low cost dvb-s tuner purchased in New Zealand on TradeMe (another one from the same trader - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing....=360479138).
They can also be found on dealextreme.

Now there are 2 different types of tuners used in these boxes, either LG or Sharp ones (there may be 2 Sharp variants as well), it's pretty much potluck as to which one you get.
The internals put together by a company called Leaguer Microelectronics and they supply the factory drivers (http://www.leaguerme.com/English/ShowArt...ticleID=62)

The default bda.ini that gets installed with GB-PVR 1.4.7 already has an entry for the LG tuner (see here for a bit of history - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post344971)

All I had to do was run FilterCheck (log attached) and add my own entry to bda.ini:

[LME DM04 SHARP7395]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=LME_PCTV_DVBS_SHARP0288
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

And everything worked like a charm Smile

After installing NPVR 2.0.3 I could find no way to manually add digital BDA devices, I guess it has been written it to autodetect these.

Initially everything seems positive, my tuner gets listed in the 'Devices' window with both 'Present' and 'Enabled' set to 'Yes'.
I select the 'Device Setup' button and my tuner is shown as enabled with a '1' next to it.

However when I press 'Scan' to scan for channels nothing is ever found, it just sits there looking like it's scanning, but not doing it.
NPVR doesn't hang or anything, I can 'Cancel' and go back to the 'Devices' window without any problem.

Any ideas? :confused:

As long as it's listed, then it sounds like there is no problem finding the device (ie, no reason you'd need to manually add it).

Do a scan, then post your npvr.log and I'll see if anything stands out.

Hi sub, thanks for your help.

I have attached a copy of my NPVR.log after another scan attempt as well as screenshots of my tuner configuration.

There is definitely an exception in there but unfortunately it's one that seems out of my hands.

If you try running NextPVR.exe with 'run as administrator' does it help? If it does, and you then go back to running normally, does it then also work?

It looks like it's not finding a DVB-S Tuning Space on your machine, and due to permissions it's unable to create one.

Thanks sub, that was definitely the problem!

I ran NextPVR.exe with 'run as administrator', and the initial channel scan worked successfully.
I then exited, ran NextPVR.exe again normally and the channel scan now works just fine as well.

For reference I am running on Vista Home Premium 32.

Thanks again for your help Big Grin
