client can't playback recordings

I have npvr running on my desktop now and have installed it on my laptop. I used the laptop previously with gbpvr as a client to play back recordings but I can't seem to get it to work with npvr. When I try to play back a recording I get no audio or video and the timeline starts and ends with zero.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the client and server logs.

Got it sorted, I forgot to add an exception in windows firewall on the laptop for nextpvr, I saw pvrx2 in there and forgot the name change. Next hurrdle is getting my old dvr-ms recordings to play they just crash right back to the recordings menu but new ts and live tv play fine.

Ok, great.
You'll only be able to play dvr-ms files from a client machine via the Video Library. The client/server streaming stuff is only designed to work with the file types that NPVR creates.

I'm unable to playback recording from the recording screen on a PC client too... I don't have firewalls on in Intranet
The same recordings play fine from Video Library.. Could you please direct me to the info that discusses config? I'm pretty sure I'm connected correctly... The TV Guide shows up fine and the Recordings list from the server are all there...

Zip and attach the client and server logs and I'll take a look.
The usual cause of those symptoms would be the user getting the server name wrong (for example, using "\\server" instead of "server"), or they have firewall software blocking the communication between client and server. Being able to see recordings listed is at least enough to indicate you 'Database Share' setting is correct. |
