Dear all,

for reference it could be useful to start compiling a list of capture devices that people have working with NextPVR.

At a later point this information can be moved over to the wiki. I'll use post 2 on this thread to start a list.

Please post if you have a card/device working that isn't yet listed. Please include all available information such as connection interface (PCI, PCIe, USB etc).

Please post if you see missing or incorrect details listed for a card/device you have.

For analog devices please state if it is a tuning device or a capture device. Whether it has integrated HW (Hardware) encoding or relies on SW (Software) encoding and if you required further steps to get the device working by adding/editing an entry in AnalogDevices.xml. If the latter please also give the relevant entry from your AnalogDevices.xml file.

Please also post if there is a card you have tried that doesn't work.

cheers

steeb

Digital Devices

Sub: (From this post)
Most digital devices work though. The safest bet is sticking with Hauppauge devices though, since you know they're widely used here, and chances are I've got that model too (I've got nearly every Hauppauge device ever made) - which helps if you encounter problems.
Analog Devices

If you are using this list as a reference for getting Analog working then you MUST install the relevant software as documented on the wiki here

Legend on list for Analog

Tuner means the device has an integrated tuner for tuning in analog signals (commonly from an RF cable)
Capture means the device captures the AV from an external source (commonly a STB) via Composite/S-Video/Audio/Component cable/s
HW means the device has an integrated Hardware encoder (placing less stress on your system, recommended for lesser powered computers)
SW means encoding has to be done by Software (more stress on system, recommended for more powerful computers)

I have the following, which all work fine:

- Hauppauge Nova-T USB2 (USB, single DVB-T)
- Pinnacle 3010ix (PCIe, dual DVB-T)
- Pinnacle 7010ix (PCIe, dual DVB-T, dual DVB-S)

(I think there may be analog on the 7010ix too, but I've never ever used it)

Thanks Iain, I can't find it at the moment, I know there was a thread where Sub and you discussed DVB-S2, if you know where it is I can put the details of that into the notes from Sub bit?

I don't think those discussions ever really mentioned specific hardware, other than sub confirming that Hauppauge cards are the only ones he can be sure will work with DVB-S2. There are other tuners out there, but I've never seen anyone on these forums confirm whether or not they work. Part of the problem might be the rarity of both hardware and (non-encrypted) broadcasts that use it.

I have the following working:

Hauppauge 2250 (PCIe, QAM) (Never tried the analog or ATSC tuners)
Hauppauge 1800 (PCIe, Analog-SVideo) (Never tried ATSC. The QAM tuner on this never worked, even before NPVR existed)
Hauppauge 1600 (PCI, QAM, Analog-SVideo) (Never tried ATSC)

I'm in the US & use Verizon FiOS if that matters.

I use the analog tuners on a Hauppauge 2250 - haven't tried the digital.
