Does NPVR use the unique_id field for anything? I was surprised to see this field blank in an forzaKGB's npvr.db3

Yes, it uses it for avoiding duplicates recordings of the same show.

What EPG source does forzaKGB use?

He's using xmltv. He's somewhere in Europe so I wouldnt expect his unique identifier to be populated. It'd mostly only populated for Schedules Direct users.

You can get it populated with some xmltv files that provide season/episode info, but this info its very rare.

FYI, if the unique identifier is not specified in the database, then that airing is always treated as unique.

Ok thanks, I was hoping could put me own key in there, but I guess not. Do you treat SxEx unique ids as unique for duplicates, they don't seem trustworthy?

There is only really one european format season/episode identifier that is supported. For now if both of those values are non-zero it'll use them to construct a value to store in the unique id. I cant really tell if that data is reliable at this stage, but I'm keeping an eye open for any feedback. If we do find it causes anyone any problems, the duplicate checking logic can be easily be disabled with an existing setting in config.xml.
