keep in mind though that the Atom 330 is a hyper-threading dual core, which means windows sees 4 cores. therefore 10% means ~40% of one core. The e-350 is a dual-core without HT, so windows sees 2 cores. therefore 25% means ~50% of one core. At that point we're just down to driver and app differences.

mvallevand Wrote:The E-350 isn't really the new AMD APU. Yesterday I was reading the announcements for the AMD A8-3500M APU (llano) and its sounds impressive. On this linux review http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=ar...inux&num=1 the E-350 and Atom 330 are pretty much on par and I find my Atom really just average as a computer.

I was researching a new 24x7 NPVR-Win7 server to replace the NPVR-WHS setup I have at the moment and was looking at what is now the 'old' AMD APU.

This new AMD APU A8 looks like the perfect'ish CPU; quad core, 15w power consumption while idle and a big jump in graphics performance over the first gen APU.

I wonder how long before a mATX board is released and at what price? Smile

Link to another review of the new AMD APU

cheers

The comments at the bottom of the last review you posted Martin make for interesting reading, it appears some people have very strong feelings about intel/amd CPUs... weird :-)

The A8-3850's have shown up in town today, just the bare CPU and motherboard are about $250, a little bit higher than I expected, I wonder what they will settle down at?
