Is this possible in NextPVR? I can't remember what keys did it on GBPVR.

Nope, unless anyone can correct me.

I mentioned it to sub recently as I can't even do it using the mouse and the 'hidden' sort button with NextPVR at the PC. It gives sort options for 'Date', 'A-Z' and 'Z-A' but none of them do anything. By 'Date' doesn't make much sense but 'A-Z' or 'Z-A' would be useful.

Cheers,
Brian

The Stop button on my WMC remote activates it, (or ctrl-S on the keyboard), but it doesn't actually change the order in which they are displayed, i.e. they are always shown with the oldest at the top.

Sub, this still seems to be an open bug. With the recurring recordings list, we can change the "identified" sort order for A-Z, Z-A, etc., but NPVR isn't actually changing the listing. The alphabetical sort order is needed when you (accidentally) get duplicates in the list (so you're getting multiple copies of each recording scheduled) and want to find the duplicates to remove one of them.
