Basically I was importing them into the recordings plugin, which I may stop doing.

But how do others do it? Do you use the Video library? And how do you keep track of what you have watched and what you haven't. I guess if you follow a show every week it's not so bad, but I'd tend to get a bunch, watch them, get a bunch more, but not actually watch for say 2 months...so I never remember what I'm up to.

Just want to see what others do, and is it just because I have a stupid viewing style, and an appalling memory...

I tend to watch TV, like a program then go to a bittorrent site and down load the whole season, place in my video folder and watch it that way.
Works fine for me, good picture, sounds etc
I use the setting-set to remember where i was upto awesome

When it comes to downloads, I place them in one of my video library directories, watch them, then delete them.

I used to be of the watch and delete type user, but there's a bunch of stuff I keep now, since I have a 6tb home server

Between myself, the kids and the little lady, there is no way one can keep track. Even in recordings. Sure it has been watched, but by who?

Mostly, for the stuff I... 'creatively acquire', I attempt to name them well and tag them with the metadata.xml alternate stream with as much detail as I can.
Maybe I can figure out if I've seen it.

I just downloaded some kind of tv show db that I was hoping would help me track of things. Haven't used it yet, but it's called episode organizer. I watch everything with mediaplayer classic, a throwback to the days when I sometimes used a wiimote and sometimes used a nostromo n52, and MPC key mappings were easy to work with. I watch and delete a lot, but I keep a lot too. This year I ended up missing the entire season of nbc comedy (which I don't delete), just for lack of time. I've been trying to catch up this summer, and I book mark the last episode I finished in mpc.

So generally I use the fact that the tv shows are imported into the recording plugin, and that keeps fairly good track of what is watched.

Also playing with xbmc at the moment and so does that.

But the main backstop is an iphone app called episodes, so I plug in that I've watched it with that. That is independent of the media player used. Be nice is there was a consistent way of recording this, kinda like how the xbmc .nfo files have been adopted by a lot of things.

Funny, there's big arguments here about that.

The trouble is, and the excuse that we use over here, is there is no legal way of getting tv shows here. iTunes NZ doesn't do tv, there's no netflix, hulu or any of those great US centric services. But anyway that's our problem. Its good to hear how others use their systems

I just dump them in a subdirectory of the main recordings and use vidimport to create an xml import file and hope it can dig out enough of a description.
Now I have plenty of disc space, I often keep things that are entertaining for possible future viewing when I'm struggling to find something to watch.

Now what is a "felony" depends on where you live.....

Quote:Offences declared felonies by this Act to be punishable by transportation or imprisonment.

If any person whatsoever shall, within the United Kingdom or without, compass, imagine, invent, devise, or intend to deprive or depose our Most Gracious Lady the Queen, from the style, honour, or royal name of the imperial crown of the United Kingdom, or of any other of her Majesty’s dominions and countries, or to levy war against her Majesty, within any part of the United Kingdom, in order by force or constraint to compel her to change her measures or counsels, or in order to put any force or constraint upon or in order to intimidate or overawe both Houses or either House of Parliament, or to move or stir any foreigner or stranger with force to invade the United Kingdom or any other of her Majesty’s dominions or countries under the obeisance of her Majesty, and such compassings, imaginations, inventions, devices, or intentions, or any of them, shall express, utter, or declare, by publishing any printing or writing or by any overt act or deed, every person so offending shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof shall be liable F2 to be transported beyond the seas for the term or his or her natural life . . . . . .
