Hi

I have lost the ability to play DVDs on my Win 7 home premium HTPC. most likely due to the installation of HDPack 2.5.

Does any one have an procedure to restore DVD playback?

Open Control Panel and select "Auto Play". You can select what program starts CD's, DVD Movies, etc. from there. Smile

I think that the problem goes deeper than selecting program in the autoplay setup. Neither WMP or NPVR can play DVDs and I think that I'm missing some files or that some setting is corrupt and I would like to save my self a reinstall of windows.

Have you tried re-registering the default MS DLLs that come with Windows 7? Try typing this in a command line:

regsvr32 msmpeg2vdec.dll
regsvr32 msmpeg2adec.dll
regsvr32 msmpeg2enc.dll

You'll probably have to do run these commands as the Administrator. Let me know how you get on!
