I know this post is a month old, but...

As I've learned from my troubles with waking up the server from outside the LAN: As long as you provide a way to "call" a specific port on a given url or IP, the rest has to be done by the receiving router itself.

I lost countless hours trying to port-forward to the server's internal IP to no avail, until I found out the I had to portforward to the "network broadcast" address ( xxx.xxx.xxx.255). voilá... I also found that some routers' firmware do not allow port-forwarding to .255, rendering impossible to wake a pc from outside the LAN.

So, if the router allows forwarding to 255, all you have to provide is a way to "call" an url/IP

I have done some extra reading on this since that post and you're right - it does seem to depend on the router being able to forward the wake request. I haven't been able to test this myself as my current router doesn't allow it. I'll put it into the next release anyway to see if it works for people who have routers that do.
