I know it's not a novelty for a lot of you, but its showing here. Unreal. We never get snow in Wellington.

It snowed yesterday for a couple of hours, and started again about an hour ago. All the tree's and roofs are coated and it looks like some surreal postcard christmas scene.

Lol - if it's such a rarity where you are then beware the roads if you need to drive anywhere.

One big complaint by people in parts of England is the local authorities are never prepared enough to grit / salt the roads.

Still, either way, enjoy the picture postcard views. Smile

Cheers,
Brian

Our street is incredibly steep, and is currentso I have got some concerns about this. I'm thinking about walking pick the kids up from school today. Conveniently it's just a short walk.

The kids will be going nuts at school. Just had a big dump of snow, and sun is now out, with lunch hour about to start. Hopefully the teachers let them out for a play.

From the way the snow's clinging on, it looks pretty cold where you are...

Man oh man oh man has it ever been snowing over here, started early last night for us (then the first of the two power cuts that lasted for 3 1/2 hours & the baby parrots that we are hand rearing had to have their broader moved into the sitting-room with the fire going to keep warm & finally got their night feed two hours late (boy were they keen for that feed <grin>) then the second power cut about 2 hours later that lasted for another couple of hours). This morning it was about 6" deep on the ground & it has been snowing off & on ever since.....OH yeah we "never" get snow in this part of Carterton either

I lived in Rome back in '84-'85, and that winter was one of the very rare winters where Rome got snow (they say once every 15 years or so). Predictably, the city is completely unprepared for snow. I don't think there was more than 6 inches at most, but the entire city pretty well shut down for days. My school closed down for a day, then tried to re-open but almost none of the teachers could get there because they couldn't get their cars out of their garages/underground parking due to the steep driveways being covered with snow and later ice. So we had snowball fights for half the day then they sent us home for the rest of the week.

It's always entertaining when a place that almost never gets snow finally does get a good snowstorm.
