On the desktop (server) and the MVP, everything works fine.
But I recently installed NPVR on the laptop and that's where I get these problems:

I wanted to change the language, so I went into settings. Changed the language. Exited the settings, than the program freezes for about half a minute.

I have attached the config.xml and the logs.

It seems to be a connection problem, because in npvr.log I read:
Unexpected error calling ReloadSettings(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Een verbindingspoging is mislukt omdat de verbonden party niet correct heeft geantwoord na een bepaalde tijd, of de gemaakte verbinding is mislukt omdat de verbonden host niet heeft geantwoord 192.168.2.3:8968 (translation: a connection failed because the connected party didn't respond within a certain time or the host didn't answer)
I didn't find anything about port 8968 in the config.xml so I am not sure why NPVR seems to listen to that port.

In nrecord.log I see this: Client Listener starting on port 7969

From the config.xml of the laptop:
<StartPortControl>5916</StartPortControl>
<StartPortMedia>8337</StartPortMedia>

From the config.xml of the server (desktop):
<ServerName>Desktop</ServerName>
<ServerPort>7969</ServerPort>

When trying to plack back a recording (ts-file), the program freezes again for half a minute and there's no video playing back (black screen, no sound).
Mpg-files from the video-menu are being played correct.

I installed NPVR, the bugfixes and visual C++ and windows installer. Directx and dotnet were not necessary (on the laptop). I added rules to the firewall.

Please help.

Check this setting on your Laptop. It is only relevant on clients:

Code:
<ClientMode>true</ClientMode>
    <ServerName>htpc1</ServerName>
    <ServerPort>7969</ServerPort>

ClientMode: false if machine is a standalone or server. true if machine is a client.
ServerName: If "ClientMode" is set to true, this is the name of the server to which the client will connect. Ignored if "ClientMode" is false.
ServerPort: If "ClientMode" is set to true, this is the port number on which the server ("ServerName") is listening. Ignored if "ClientMode" is false.

From the config.xml of my laptop:

<ClientMode>true</ClientMode>
<ServerName>Desktop</ServerName>
<ServerPort>7969</ServerPort>

So, I think this is correct. I think it's a problem with a port setting other than serverport. Or maybe the installation isn't correct?

Got it working. Turned out I selected the wrong file while making a firewall rule (NPVRServiceControl.exe instead of NRecord.exe).

For others to know, these are the firewall rules on the server pc:

TCP and UDP for NextPVR.exe and TCP for NRecord.exe

Thanks.
