Hi,

I'd like to merge two xmltv files to one.

I don't really need to delete channels but it would be nice.

I've got xmltv-Merge but not sure if it is the correct format so some instruction may help me there.

I'm in a Windows environment with Excel.

Technically this should be general discussion but based on your requirements, (to get OTA schedules two different cities) think it should be a wishlist feature as I expect several users especially in rural environments would want to use more than one XML file for the same tuner.

You should already be able to use more than one xmltv file in the app.

You can import channels from one xmltv file, and then import more channels from some other xmltv file. Each channel's epg mapping info stores the file name and channel identifier.

Reason: I'd like to try Ultraxmltv. As far as I know it can handle only one xmltv source file.
I need Ottawa and Plattsbugh(WCFE).
I've looked for a location in the middle but unable to find one with both.

OTAJunkie what I think sub is saying is, on the tuner use the Ottawa listings, but for the PBS channels go into the Channels screen and change the XMLTV file name.

With Freesat/Freeview in the UK (different tuners, but some overlapping channels), it's not quite the same scenario, but I found using more than one xmltv file a bit awkward with the mapping screen(s) because it always seemed to default the combo boxes back to the last used file, rather than the one actually assigned to a channel, and bulk mapping was difficult etc. Because of this, I did start on a simple exe to merge two xmltv files (eg, channels A,B,C,D from one file and C,D,E,F from another) but never got it finished. Mainly because I've not been able to find the time for NPVR coding for a good couple of months now.

I'd also take a guess at this being the sort of thing that's already been done and is out there somewhere, but I purposely didn't go looking because I wanted to learn how to do it for myself.

I had a similar problem about a year ago, I vaccumed google for a merge utility but found nothing except xmltv-merge which doesn't work. I'm now using two xmltv files.

Until I found a better way I used XMLTV GUI to combine the XMLTV data from two internet sources. Neither source covered all the channels but selecting which channels came from which source I had a single XMLTV file to import which covered almost all the channels required.
