Hi Guys,

I have been trying for a while now to get NPVR to work with my Hauppauge HVR-1950. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit and the ATSC channels are working perfectly, audio and video. My problem is that audio from my Rogers STB sounds like chipmunks (high pitch with slight distortion). Video using the STB (S-Video) is fine. When using WinTV, everything is fine but I hate the lack of a EPG with WinTV so have to get NPVR to work for me. I have tried a number of codecs and nothing seems to make a difference. I have tried having no codec for MPEG 1 audio but that results in no audio at all. At least I know from that that it is using MPEG 1 for the audio. I am really stuck now so would appreciate any advice.

Video using the STB (S-Video) is fine too.

Thanks for a great program Smile

The chipmunk audio is almost certainly related to the MPEG1 Layer 2 audio decoder you have selected. Try another one. You may need to install one if none of the ones you've already got work.

Hi Sub,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have tried a number of codec packs (K-lite, DivX to name a few) and nothing seems to work. I have tried ffdshow, the hauppague ones, LAV and everyone gives me the same result. Can you suggest any others that might give me more success? Is there a specific codec for MPEG1 Layer 2?

Most of the decoders I'd used worked fine for MPEG1 Layer 2.

If you record a file, then play it in NextPVR, and in a separate player like VLC, do they both give chipmunk audio? ie recording problem rather than playback problem.

I shall try that when I get in from work and I will post again.

Thanks,

Hi Sub,

I tried a recording and played it back in both VLC and MPC and the chipmunk audio is present on the recording.

Hi Again,

Ok, so I have been doing some more testing with my problem. I tried making a recording on NPVR and it plays back with the chipmunk audio on NPVR and VLC/MPC. I have tested a .TS file that was recorded with WinTV on NPVR and that plays back with no chipmunk audio. I can only conclude from that that NPVR is actually recording the chipmunk audio.

Is there any way that I can get some more help with my problem? Can I post log files? As I say, I'd love to get NPVR working for me.

Many thanks,

Andrew

It is always a good idea to post the logfiles (from C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs\) whenever you report a problem. Zip and attach the .log files right after you have made a recording.

Could you cut a 20 MB sample with sub's utility http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...y.CutChunk and then upload it to a site like megaupload to see if the file is okay.
