A curious question, indeed. Big Grin

But i would really love to know, what each NextPVR user is thinking about Windows 8, so i started this poll.

Personally i dislike Windows 8 completely. It's just a little bit like "Windows Me" for me.

If you make your choice in this poll, it would be great if you could write one or two sentences about your selection (only if you want, of course!).

I can't see any reason to use W8 on anything but a tablet (so far). I downloaded the 'non beta' and wasn't impressed. It did seem faster but as it's very incomplete, I don't think it's worth saying much just yet.
Let Apple be Apple and Microsoft should keep to what they do......or just buy Apple and mess both companies up.

I am not thinking about Windows 8. Why would I?

I know nothing about it, nor have I searched for information. I took a long time for the XP to W7 change and have seen nothing outstanding that would justify my spending on the upgrade.
To me, personally, XP + GBPVR is more reliable than W7 + NPVR on the two boxes that I have running. Too many missed recordings for whatever reason at present. I admit to not spending a lot of time on finding out why, but just thread watching for the various problems.

Microsoft only seems to get it right with every other OS release so I suspect I'll be waiting for Windows 9 to arrive. Sad

I can't vote on your poll because my GBPVR setup is still running awesome on my ancient server with XP. Smile

I won't switch, but if Win 8 is available when I build a PC I will install it. My biggest regret on building myself PC's in the last 5+ years was listening to "the internet" and using XP missing out on Vista for too long.

Oh i loved Vista. Ok, the vanilla edition was a little buggy, but nothing important. Vista was very performant, eyecandy style and really nice. Sometimes i regret, that i switched to windows 7. Win 7 has nice features too, bit it's so buggy inside, that i could cry.
Good enough for gamer and media activities, but for usage as workstation you have to tweak and workaround a lot of things (energy management is buggy, authentification via ssl is buggy, ip sec has load of weakpoints etc).

Hehe, but as it looks like, sub has an easy going on windows 8: Not many people want to switch to it. XD

The "bad news" just don't stop:

"“Windows 8 Will Launch with Split Success.”"

Ok, most of us thought something like this already. We'll see what will happen soon enough.

I don't know if that is bad news, I wouldn't expect most people will go the upgrade route. I never upgraded from Vista to Win 7 because the base O/S was too close and it sounds like Microsoft are simply moving with version 6.0. A more telling story will be if home PC buyers opt for Win7 instead of Win 8. No doubt many big businesses will stay with Win 7 a little longer.

I saw some demo screens of the xbox 360 with the Metro themed Dashboard, and I thought it looked pretty nice.

Oh, they look nice (oversized ads aside), but navigating it and finding anything within it is much harder than it used to be. I just don't think it's an interface suited to anything other than touch.
