Anyone working on the NMT or MVP pages on the NextPVR wiki? The MVP page is blank and the NMT page is a little hard to follow Smile

I had a quick look in the NMT sub form and found all of the stickies to be quite old and seem to be GB-PVR focused - is there a NextPVR NMT/MVP resource which people are using that I'm not aware of...?

I am fairly sure those threads I linked to for getting started on the NMT page are still the most current links.... The reason I used the links to the forum threads was I was/am reluctant to put all the instructions on the page (like I updated/added for the GB-PVR wiki) because when Martin updates something the whole page has to be rewritten.

OK I know the other text at the top needs a bit (a lot actually) of tweaking/updating & is way out of date.....

The reason the instructions seem old is the client install instructions from three years ago, really haven't changed significantly. In fact, currently mvpmcx2 will connect to either GB-PVR or NPVR. I'm not sure where Jaggy's comments come from, there have been updates to the client for fixes and small features but AFAIK nothing that has impacted the wiki since June 2010 when the cosmetic changes for NPVR were added.

Martin it could well have been around/before that time/date that I had to keep updating the page all the time & when I did the temporary NextPVR NMP page I just decided I didn't want to go through that again Wink

Thanks for the clarification, early on it was certainly things were quite dynamic as I was learning too. Now it basically just works.

steeb has some thoughts on this and is currently working through them...

apologies for not giving detail at this point, mainly because I am just brainstorming by myself for now.

Of course steeb thoughts do not need responding to.......

What I do know/believe is that the thin client support for NextPVR is what makes NextPVR such a brilliant option for a home entertainment/media system.

Hmmm first suggestion (and I suspect Martin would be falling off his chair reading this) is I suggest no mention of the MVP other than a link back to old GB-PVR wiki?

cheers all

I don't see how that would work unless you are going to update the GB-PVR MVP section as Martin has done a lot of work on the MVP side of things & the new requirements need to be noted....... on the other hand I feel at the top of the MVP NextPVR section (if we have one) it should state something like the MVP will work with NextPVR for some .mpg video files but it is severely restricted (by it's old age) in what it can do..... or something like that.

My thoughts on the NMT section & what I would like to see is the main stickies at the top of the forum just point to the instructions (in dummy guide wording) on the wiki & then any discussion in the thread (often not completely on topic) doesn't have to be waded through just to find out the current way to set something up.

I'm confused. Should the wiki just point to some forum stickies (if so which ones?)? Or should the useful info be put on the wiki in a decent format? Or...?

Looks like the one person that really knows the ins & out about the NMT setup has gone all quiet!!

I am fairly sure the ones I have linked now are the right (most up to date) ones.

as I said I would rather see the instructions on the wiki & the stickie(s) just point to them, but that only works if they are updated when things change which would be best done by the developer as he is the only one that really knows the ins & outs of these things (I have made some educated(????) guesses for the stuff I have documented & haven't been informed it is wrong..................but.................)

I really like the wiki as the source of information coming from the community. I repeat for emphasis that the information on the NMT hasn't changed very much since 2008, if no users want to be wiki contributors that's fine, but I don't think I have to be continually faulted for the lack of information on the wiki. I believe I deserve the same respect (at least publicly) in this decision that you give sub.
