On a UK Freeview forum I recently complained about spelling mistakes in the EPG meant that I had missed some series recordings. I hadn’t mentioned I was using NextPVR and was asked what recorder I was using as most PVRs use the “series_id” to locate recordings in a series so spelling mistakes in the title should not matter. Does NextPVR have the ability to use this “series_id” instead of the title to identify recordings in a series?

It's some UK specific data item, and only available if you're using the DVB EPG, so no.

Schedules Direct is some US/Canada specific data item, and only available if you're a $$ subscriber so ... :-P

Actually, Schedules Direct doesnt explicitly identify the season or episode number. It has a unique show identifer, but this isnt the same.

you're right!!

I was just playfully (trying) to test your reasoning that b/c it was UK specific, npvr would not support it, when actually npvr already supports (at least one) country specific feature such as in Schedules Direct.

sub - if I could point you at how it works, would you be interested in supporting it even though it's UK specific?

Tell me what you know, like where it is in the stream, and I'll see if there is any way we can make use of it (without having to have it behave entirely different than for users in other parts of the world).

The Schedules Direct support doesnt include anything like this. ie, if you had spelling mistakes in a show name then you're still going to miss the recording.

Technically it's a UK implementation of an ETSI DVB-SI "standard" so may or may not apply to other countries that conform to the ETSI stuff.

It's part of the EIT as far as I can remember and just a case of looking for certain descriptors. It's been a while since I dismantled SI tables - I'll dig out some stuff and pass it on.

Schedules Direct isn't a data source, it provide access to the zap2it database and the unique identifier does help with link to both the season and episode number http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/grimm-pi...4189710001 It's not explicit but the regex on the returned page is pretty easy. In imageGrabLite I find it is easier to simply find the TheTVDB.org, and it will be that much more accurate when you populate the first aired field properly (which I hope makes the next version)
