This used to happen on an iStar alot but not on my A100 i put that down to very old iStar firmware due to the company vanishing, but now it happens about 2-3 times per day on the A100.

I can watch live TV all day long so I'm pretty sure the network is stable but sometimes when I back out of live TV and go to the tv guide the box locks up on me with just the frozen guide on the screen, power + eject does not respond so I have to pull the power cord to get it up and running again. I was trying to replicate it earlier but found I had to leave live TV running for a significant length of time before it would lock up - it may be just coincidence though.

The logs attached should have several successful occurrences of going into NPVR >>Guide>>Live TV>>backout to guide between 8:35am and 9am, then I left live tv running until 8:55am (ish) this time when I backed out it died.

Can you shed any light on it?

This definitely should not be happening, over the course of a week I load/exit LiveTV hundreds of time without issue. Even the istar's older firmware should work with mvpmcx2 However because you run two NMT's the logging is no good, you are going to need to AutoStart just one MVP for logging to work. I see one log with a live tv session at 8:38 that looks like it finished with a normal power off.

On the config side

- it looks like you have both NPVR and GBPVR servers set up on one machine. This is not-permitted.
- try disabling TV Listings it has cause NMT problems before. You can do this by renaming TVListings folder to _TVListings
- I have no idea how SubMenu works, it might be worth turning of too
- try using 1080i/p 50 if you can, it looks better.

If it fails after that in the MVP section try again with

<ExtendedLogging>true</ExtendedLogging>

and send me the logs.

Thanks for the help (and the MVPMC) Martin

I don't have the second NMT (istar) plugged in at the moment so I assume just setting servers to 1 will improve the logging? I had kept 2 set to autostart just in case 1 crashed.

I'm not sure how syntax checker works, but I still have a gbpvr install on my machine but none of the components run, so assume that is ok

That may make sense, annoying thing is I don't use the listings side of the plugin only the video/recordings library side of it, i'll give it pop.

Will do, but its a 16:10 monitor so it will never look right

No problem, it shouldn't be giving you these problems so I hope we can fix this up easily.

Yes after restarting the recording service.

If the GBPVR recording service is off that should be okay.

I have been think of allowing an option for 16:10 (for video only), an NMT because a computer monitor with speakers might work out okay in the bedroom.

I've reduced the servers to 1, but not yet tried to disable tv listings, though it looks increasingly like that might be the issue, I have attached logs, the lockup is evident in the MVP log 2 @ 2011-12-11 15:54:53.885 and the web log 1 at the same time.

Thanks for looking.

It doesn't look you enabled the extended logging that I asked for, that might show something more.

Also do you have the R2 patches installed or at least this patch http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post423521

Yep, sorry I missed that, I've added the logging and the latest cumulative patch which includes the issue above, so we'll see what happens.

Nothing specific but in the NPVR logs right when you said you had problems, on the PC instance of the same LiveTV I do see the kind of things that TVListings does that messes up playback.

Code:
2011-12-15 20:55:47.914    [DEBUG][8]    TV Recordings: Panel: Setting panel text to 'Recording Soon: Life's Too Short (21:30 - 22:00)'...

2011-12-15 20:55:47.914    [DEBUG][1]    TV Recordings: Invoking 'PluginHelper.ForceRender();' on main thread.
2011-12-15 20:55:47.914    [DEBUG][1]    TV Listings: Got event NOW_PLAYING Recording Soon: Life's Too Short (21:30 - 22:00)
2011-12-15 20:55:47.924    [INFO][8]    TV Recordings: Panel: Successfully set panel text to 'Recording Soon: Life's Too Short (21:30 - 22:00)'.

ok here's another one with the submenu and (i think) tvlistings plugin disabled:

Code:
2011-12-17 07:09:14.159    [DEBUG][3]    User pressed: S
2011-12-17 07:09:14.401    [DEBUG][3]    Noticed live tv buffer file was still presented. Unable to delete it: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Temp\live-BBC 1-3805.ts' because it is being used by another process.
   at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
   at System.IO.File.Delete(String path)
   at NextPVR.Players.LiveTvPlayer.Stop()

Code:

at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Send(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size, SocketFlags socketFlags)
