Have not tried LM Remote before because am stuck in old ways and once I found IRSS it was so easy to configure etc....

I'm on Vista 32 bit for the HTPC - With all the patches from MS (Quite a few back ported from 7 - just wish they would bring out SP3) and a bit of tweaking, it is prity stable operating system. No MS DV codec but Mr Hoborg's pack makes up for that.

I have been using LM for nearly 4 years but there has been no updates since 10-05 Sad It is also ver easy to set up just click on the button on the remote (or picture of the remote in the prog) and set wot action you require.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I just wanted to say thank you for this guide.

It's pretty straight forward once you know all the steps but I would have never figured it all out without this guide.

The one additional thing I had to do was update my channels to use the new channel changing configuration.

In the screen where you setup the IRBlast.exe executable, after you setup the executable and arguments, highlight all the channels in the list at the bottom of the screen, right click and select update.

Thanks for putting together the how-to BTJustice!

OK, here's my current setup:

DirecTV H23/600 STB with S-Video going out to a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1265 tv card.
Running Windows 8.1 Pro with XBMC Gotham as the media center.
Microsoft Media Center USB Blaster with one emitter going back to the DirecTV H23 sensor, to change channels.
IRSS and NextPVR software is installed and I also have the NextPVR Client running within XBMC Gotham.

Everything seems to work, with the exception of changing channels properly. I followed the how-to step by step, but I'm obviously missing something. How do you get DirecTV satellite channels to work with the Translator? Is there a DirecTV .xml file that I can get from somewhere? Also, I enabled the keyboard settings. When I hit 229, on my keyboard to change the channel to HGTV, I see the numbers come up on the live tv nPVR screen, but I don't see the emitter flash and the channel doesn't change. Is there any other software I need to install or tweaks I need to perform, in order to get this to work?

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm new, when it comes to this and any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

KDA,

did you get IRSS to learn the proper ir codes? If you did, you can test if the blaster is working directly in IRSS at that time. I think you should try that first before running NPVR. If the channels aren't changing in IRSS then it won't work in NPVR.

Thanks for your response jam_zhou,

Yes, I added my DirecTV Remote IR codes via the Translator IR Commands setup. It took all the button codes, 0-9 like in the how-to, and when I test each button, the emitter flashes and it changes the channel.

BTJustice,
I just want to thank you. You helped me a lot to jump from MediaPortal to NextPVR.

This tutorial was what I needed to finally be able to blast channels with my USB-UIRT on my STB.
STB captured from component with my good old Hauppauge Colossus.

See ya!
