Dear all,

Happy New Year!

didn't know where to put this so thought I'd chuck it into "GD" thread for starters ...

Been thinking about this for a couple of years now.

Just wanted to check it wasn't me being thick (possible Big Grin )

I have DVB-S cards

I have an STB

For WAF with GB-PVR and now NextPVR in order to blast the correct channel number to the STB I always number all my DVB-S card channels to the same numbers as my STB (SKY UK)

I could use Alibert's brilliant TV Listings plugin and create separate guides for DVB-S cards and STB but once again this loses WAF.

I want 1 guide to do everything but am fed up using the numbers that Sky uses. I want something more tailored to how I like to use numbers.

Have I missed a trick all of these years by being a bit thick?

(Don't all jump at once at my stupidity ....)

If I haven't missed a trick am thinking about writing a simple in between exe utility to send to IRSS (that is what I use but guess it could be used in between any blaster.exe) to say "you selected channel 12 in NextPVR but now blast STB number 1 on channel 157" etc. Have been inspired by reading some of pBS' posts...

Please let me know what I have missed out by being tired grumpy etc

cheers and very best

I'm not in a position to try this just now - but I'm fairly sure what you want to happen "just happens". (the below, from memory of my PVR150)

With a new install, "channel numbers" are assigned starting at 1 and going up in 1's. If you then want to blast a different channel you have to change something in the channel but the number and position in the listing list stays as it was.

I could of course be talking drivel, but I'm sure the above was the cause of much of my setup frustration when starting NPVR use.

i already have framework for that as i made an alternate irblaster for IRSS...Smile
it's autoit3 code but pretty easy to work with even for non-programmers.
i had to do similar things for my stb which needed just one channel translated into another..[adding the xxx-1 for HD] [allows multiple stb codesets too]
plus it allowed me to tweak timing for lightning fast changes..Smile

i posted it the other day in a thread, ahh here:

you can uncompile it with autoit and play with the code, tho it needs cleaning up for your purposes..

tho i could make a batch file to do same thing as you're only translating the numbers..lol

hmmm, you may actually be able to renumber in config since it's a separate capture source..
aha! yes you can....just go into device settings for sat cards and change 'number' on the left to it's adjusted number..
the guide will stay same, but blast channel # will change...Smile

thanks pBS, I know, twas you that inspired me Wink

It is not often that a programmer allows someone to decompile their code so that is what I have done Big Grin

I have seen all the other posts and need to experiment but am sure my tired mind wanted to do this for a reason....!!?

Am certain in my head that NextPVR wasn't handling the blasts the way I wanted. Need time to check!

cheers all

Steeb, I don't have DVB but can't you just edit the display for the channel in NextPVR on the tuner by clicking on the left column without impacting the blasting/tuning at all? The only thing missing for me on this is that it doesn't allow periods to map to the North American ATSC channels that are written like 13.1, etc.

Martin.
