I've just finished setting up an MVP on my network using the GB-PVR software and everything is working great.
When I'm using the menu on the PC, the DVD option is in the list. When I connect using the MVP, everything is in the menu except the DVD option so I assume that it isn't possible to stream dvd movies over GB-PVR MVP Server to the Hauppauge MVP box.

Can anyone can confirm this?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I guess my next question is how do I do that when the DVD option doesn't show up on the MVP?

one thing you can try. Convert a dvd to divx and use xrecord to play the divx. Might work.

It is a shame that you can play dvd's directly. They need a next generation MVP or something.

You can also convert them to mpeg files and then play them using the Video Archive plug-in. This will also download the poster image and description for the DVD if it can find it.

Jeff...thanks for the input. Any ideas on how to do that or know of any programs that can do that?
I use DVD Shrink and DVD XCopy Platinum to make my files.

I was able to get this working recently using DVD2MPEG. Instructions are available on the wiki at http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph.../DVD2MPEG.

One thing to note. I found that if you don't have ~10 MB of free space on the drive where you'll be writing temp files, you're likely to end up with an MPEG that is only a partial copy of your movie.

The DVD2MPEG version included in the video archive plug-in is just a newer (with a few bugs fixed) version of the standalone DVD2MPEG plug-in. In the next release of the video archive plugin I plan to have the single DLL register both the video archive plug-in and the DVD2MPEG plug-in so that the single library will do either (or both) if you so choose. This will make it easier for me to maintain the code and will in effect be the next update to DVD2MPEG.

I would like to add that the DVD2mpeg plugin works great! I was pleased with the simplicity. I might extract the command line switches and make it a batch file when I want to run it out side of GBPVR.

Plus it is a real good idea ot have it done while you aren't recording, or have it to another drive or your files will be 'interleaved' I had a 3.5 gig mpg with over 8000 fragments!!! I just copied it to another drive, and defragged them moved it back, no biggie, but WOW over 8000 fragments on one file.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
