I am building a new HTPC going to digital NPVR and I have bought 2 DVB-C PCI cards

I have 2 old Hauppauge PVR 150 PCI cards I also would like to use.

but after a quick look at new motherboards I did not find anyone with more than 2 PCI slots

anyone who knows how to get more PCI slots?

The machine I have just put together has one of these GA-P41T-D3P
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
3 x PCI Express x1 slots
3 x PCI slots

I acquired a PVR150 USB tuner from ebay to save a slot as well.

you're lookin at micro-atx boards, which usually only have 2 but sometimes 3 pci slots max...
regular ATX has up to 7 slots so usually has more than 2 pci onboard..but requires bigger cases..
should be several boards available in micro-atx with 3 slots tho...
i've got a gigabyte ga-g41m-es2h which has a pciex16 and 3 pci in matx form..

I bought an asus m2v when building my PVR (couple of years ago). Specifically as it had 4 pci slots. Getting a bit long in the tooth now, and I've reduced the number of pci cards needed - also thinking of going the hdhomerun way so no pci slot needed.

It's a PITA that most uATX MB's are made with only one or two PCI slots. If I were you I'd buy a regular ATX board and sell the uATX on eBay Wink

thanks you are obviously better at searching than I am (hm... was late last night) I will look into your suggestions

I prefer Intel and wanted 1155 socket if possible

I also found this riser which makes 3 PCI from 1 PCI (only 30 EUR) but I have not seen this thing before And I wonder what kind of chassi would be needed

that particular riser doesn't have a pci-pci bridge, so it requires you to already have 3 or more slots. it's hard to see what they are in the picture but the colored wires coming off the board have edge connectors on them that plug into your motherboard's existing pci slots.

It seems to me that this is just a device to angle your pci card 90 deg, since two of the riser's slots are already occupied? I have seen some other risers at http://www.bestofferbuy.com and http://www.dealextreme.com

I think the risers are just going to cause you new problems
ie what case will let you use them
