I have just hooked up my MVP to a widescreen TV for the first time and i can't get GBPVR to show a full widescreen picture. It insists on cropping (centrecutting) the picture. Several times I have gone back to the original hauppauge software and set the aspect ratio (16X9). The Hauppauge software displays it correctly but when i go back to GBPVR it keeps centrecutting it (what the hauppauge software does when set to 4X3).

Should GBPVR be capable of this?

Don't ask me how, but for me GB-PVR output is always detected as widescreen by my TV. This is kind of annoying for me as everything I record isn't, so it get stretched!

The original Hauppauge MVP software appears no different regardless of whether I have it configured for 16x9 or 4x3. Does this setting actually work for you (or am I missing something)? All my recordings are made with a PVR150/250/350.

If I can get it working with the original MVP, so I can see what the desired output is, then I can replicate it in GB-PVR.

Yes, and I'm trying to play the file in the original Hauppauge software. Set to 4:3 or 16:9 seems to produce identical results.

sub...just checked mine....I am only seeing 4:3 as well...verified the recorded video was in 720 format and displays wide screen in other players.....set my MVP to 16:9 and it only shows 4:3.

May be a bug in the MVP......

The hauppauge software definately chops off the edges (Australian digital transmission is all 16:9 so when they have 4:3 footage it has black bars on left and right, these disappear in 4:3 setting indicating that the MVP is centrecutting the picture) in the 4:3 setting. You do have to make sure if you are flicking back and forth between the two settings that you restart a file rather than resume it as it will resume with whichever setting you were last watching it in.

My GBPVR is fine once I had set MVP software to 16:9.

Remember that as far as I can tell there is no wide screen switching from the MVP as with most RGB enabled outputs. Thus you may just get what your TV was last set to.

Cheers

Well actually my TV switches to a 4:3 display when the MVP is booting and once in GB-PVR it goes to widescreen. This happens everytime for me.

Mine too, but I think if you were running MVP it would switch to w/s after booting up.
