Hang on a minute....those dirty southerners have gone and messed with it.

I'm pleased to report we have 5 jars of it, so the future of the project is safe.

While I eat it a couple of days a week on toast, my kids would have ensured there was no peace in the house without marmite.

It genuinely is one of those things that you either love or hate - there doesn't seem to be an in-between.

A big contributor of the yeast it's made from is the UK brewing industry who sell their used brewing yeast. I was at a tour of the Fuller's brewery many years ago and we were being shown the vats of dehydrated yeast just as the Marmite lorry pulled into the yard to make the weekly collection. Another good reason to keep the real ale brewing industry alive in my opinion. Smile

Cheers,
Brian

I used to brew beer. The used yeast was something washed down the drain whilst holding my nose; never once did I say "hey, let's make that into a sammich!"

I brew beer all the time and you are right on about the yeast. Last week I was putting the old yeast down the drown and it got clogged. I gagged just trying to unclog the sink.

And, we eat crawfish......suck the juice out the heads and all! Oh, we do wash it down with homebrew.
I've had marmite and am not a fan but I'm told it takes a bit to get a liking to.
