Hi

Server (XP 64bit), Client Windows 7 64bit, was working perfectly before upgrading to v2.4.3...

Upgraded to v2.4.3 (stopped service, closed tray on both server and client), client can watch recorded shows, however when i browes the TV Guide and choose a channel, the icon on both server and client go red and show which device is in use and shows the correct channel, however it takes about 10 seconds to show the image then shows the message:

"The tuner being used for live tv is no longer available"

The goes back to the TV Guide..... ideas? "which log do you want?

If i record the live show, i can watch it, however i cant watch it directly...
Many Thanks
Ashley

I get this on a slow client too, but not all the time. If the client is idle, or if I set it to top priority before starting live tv it works most of the time. When it fails, the logs show nothing out of the ordinary.

when in doubt just post all the logs. also tell us what day and time you tried to watch live tv and got the failure.

Hi

Client wasnt slow before the upgrade to the latest version, worked fine before the upgrade.

Logs here http://www.ashleygriffin.ca/temp/npvr/np...271746.zip

Tried to watch TV at 1745-1746, its the last thing i did then enclosed the logs after closing the client.

The only item i cant do is watch live TV on the client, everything else works on the client and server (i can watch live TV on the server). I can even record live tv from the client then watch that same stream thats recording
Many Thanks
Ashley

I'm seeing this too, since 2.4.3. Starting Live TV on the client (either directly, or via the TV Guide page) takes longer to start up (it seems to vary between 20 and 30 seconds, compared with perhaps 5 seconds at previous versions), and then sometimes fails after showing a second or two of TV with "The tuner being used for Live TV is no longer available". The attached client and server logs show two attempts to watch Live TV on the client, the first succeeded (but I stopped it myself after watching a few seconds), but the second failed with the above error.

I wanted to drop a quick note and chime in here. I have been evaluating replacements for SageTV since it appears as though further development will not be in the future. During my evaluation I also ran into this problem. I did not get a chance to gather any logs, but it did factor into my decision to move on to other alternatives. I certainly would be will to revisit it if a solution can be found. At the time I thought it was Cablecard problems. I was using SageDCT to record programs from a CetonInfinitv4 and thought at the time it was problems with that setup.

I also had the problems with Comskips freezing the playback of a program, which appears to have been fixed already.

I'm not seeing this issue with fast clients (Athlon 64 dual core 3GHz), but on my one slow client it happends a lot (Pentium 4 single core 2.8GHz). Since there are no error messages in the logs, it seems to me that the request for renewal of handle from the client is taking too long on a slower machine.

Edit: All my computers are running W7 ultimate, the Athlons are running x64 but the P4 is running x86 version.

That makes sense. The server computer is running a AMD Buldozer 6 core chip with 16g ram, so it is plenty fast enough. The client computer I was experimenting with is a EeePC Atom / ION2 running W7 32bit Thin Client

Can you reproduce this problem and post the client's npvr.log and server's nrecord.log? Ideally restart the recording service prior to the test so I dont have to wade through too much unrelated stuff in the logs.

Are you guys wired, or wireless?

Logs from you other guys would help too.
