I have been happly using GBPVR for quite some time but decided it was time to take the plunge and upgrade to NPVR.
All has gone well except I am unable to play the imported recordings. They are all listed under recordings but when I select play I get not sound or video. I can play them with Windows Media Player. They have a .mpg file format and were recorded with GBPVR from a DVB-T source. I think they would have normally had a .ts format but I enabled 'BDA Multiplex = Cyberlink" to save them as .mpg so I could access them from other PC's etc.
I'm using Windows Vista and have tried MS MPEG and FFDSHOW decoders.
A previous simular post on this forum suggested install Haali Media Splitter which I have done but it did not make any difference.

Thanks
Martin

Have you configured the audio and video decoders to use on the Decoders tab of the settings?

Have you installed a mpeg demuxer?

@McBainUK I have tried ffdshow and MS MPEG2 video decoders.

@Reddwarf I must have installed a demuxer when I first installed GBPVR but since I have installed NPVR i have not installed another. Do I need to install one or can I register the Cyberlink one (if thats a demuxer) that was installed ages ago in NPVR? I did'nt see any demuxer option in the NPVR settings.

I have just reran the Registerfilters option in NPVR programs and got the following:-
NPVRCCDump.ax succeeded
NPVRPEScollector.ax succeeded
NPVRTSMon.ax succeeded
NPVRWriter.ax succeeded
NPVRTSReader2.ax succeeded
NPVRMP3Reader.ax succeeded

But still no joy.

My logs show a "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" in use playing an mpeg in NPVR. Not 100% sure which one that is. If I use graphstudio, then it builds the graph with the LAV Splitter. Either way, mpegs are playing fine for me in NPVR.

The filename is mpg2splt.ax, but I don't know where it comes from.

Ok, found mpg2splt.ax in \windows\system32 and reregistered it but no difference.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
Part of the problem is i don't understand how decoders and demuxers work. I am very impressed with how NPVR handles the tuner cards now - so much easier to setup than gbpvr. Just wish decoders/demuxers were so simple in windows :-)

I had to play about with a couple of settings in config...
Code:
<ForceMpgGraph>false</ForceMpgGraph>
    <MpgUsingSplitter>true</MpgUsingSplitter>

Try what Alex says above. Quite a few people need to do this to get .mpg files to play correctly.

I have both of those set the other way around, i.e., true, false in that order (presumably still at their defaults as I don't ever remember tweaking them).

I'm on XP SP3 using VMR9 and the MPV Video Decoder and MPA Audio Decoder and old GB-PVR .mpg recordings play fine for me.

mpg2splt.ax is a default MS directshow filter (in XP at least, not sure about Vista/Win7) and actually exposes both the "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" and "MPEG-2 Splitter" modes.
