Hi guys,

New to NextPVR and I am having some strange issues with live tv. One moment everything will work well and the next certain channels wont work. The weird thing is that it is not consistent. For example, atm I am watching ABC and it all works well. Later on if I select the channel I just get a black screen after it says "... Please Wait ...". If I find another channel that works then switch back to ABC it will work most of the time. Next time I go to watch the channel that worked before might not work and ABC might... or worse case, none will work.

I have tried a variety of different decoders but nothing changes.

Thanks in advanced. Can upload any logs, just tell me where to find them.

I have always had this happen intermittently on NPVR - don't remember GBPVR having problems - but that was a very long time ago Big Grin

Just been doing some searching and was wondering if <TuneTwiceOnDigitalChannels>true</TuneTwiceOnDigitalChannels> might help on live TV - I don't think there has ever been a missed recording.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Thanks for the quick reply. I have followed your instructions but unfortunately I now have another issue. When I try to tune to a channel I get an error dialogue box and can't proceed. I have attached a copy of this error along with all the logs from the logs folder.

From the Start Menu, find the All Programs->NPVR->Reregister Filter selection and try running that.

Thanks for the quick replies. I uninstalled nextpvr and deleted left over folders. Reinstalled, installed patches then followed mvallevand's instructions. Live tv works with all channels now but after some time (10-15 mins) of viewing the picture and audio becomes choppy. Most of the time if I wait it fixes itself after a minute or so, but not always.

Another issue that has arisen is that I cannot change channels if I am already viewing live tv. I have to stop playback and go to guide from main menu.

I've attached new logs.

Thanks

This may be decoder related. Try a different set of decoders to see if it helps. Also try setting audio formats you dont use to 'disabled' like HE-AAC etc.

Ok, so I've fixed most of the issues but still have some probems. I have reinstalled, disabled decoders I don't use and applied the patches that appear be applicable to me (patch 2, 3 and 5 from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-info).

All channels now tune, I can switch channels during live tv playback without going to main menu, both tuners work and most channels work without becoming choppy.

Problems remaining are:
- some channels still become choppy after watching for a while (possibly only within one multiplex but I know reception is good)
- after time-shifting if I pause then unpause a few seconds later playback skips back to live or somewhere in between. Then I have to skip back to where I was in the show and avoid pausing until I have caught up.

I really want to use NPVR, from what I have seen it's a great program. Just running out of time during my holidays to deal with the issues that keep arising.

where do you have your buffer file (hopefully separate hard drive to operating system)
Try a different video decoder
Unless your into channel surfing try setting all your recording up in the guide then watch them while they are still recording (way better way of watching tv)

I have tried both separate hdd and same and results dont differ. If pre-recording programs is the only way to watch tv then NPVR isnt the answer for me, and frankly is pretty dodgy a solution. I really only need live tv for sport and recording and watching later sucks for that. Especially when watching test cricket over a 5 day period.

I really need solution soon please or I'll have to give this potentially awesome software a miss. Pausing is a very necessary feature for me... I have a wife and young kids.
