That second link gives a 404 error here, the first one works.

My mistake. I copied the link from the first post and parts of it were replaced with '...' Here's the real link again, in case someone else wants it:

There is an mpeg audio stream in the file, but it is silent, (maybe descriptive video during a commercial?) The ac3 stream is fine and I can switch back and forth between the two without problems.
Maybe changing config.xml to english will help the default? <Language>eng</Language> <LanguagePreference1>eng</LanguagePreference1> Martin

Complete silence with both tracks for me, but there was audio when played with mpc-hc. I don't have the prefer-ac3 config option set though as I've never needed it.
ac3filter is my main decoder, and it showed the input as being mpeg audio no matter what track I selected within NPVR. Iain

Ok, I checked with other decoders, ffdshow (my default) LAV and several others do. I don't have ac3filter, never really saw (heard) why others think it is so great.

TSDoctor reports that the first audiotrack is AC3 5.1 English and the second one undetermined. I get sound from the first track but not the second.

It's silent for me with LAV too.
The main reason I use ac3filter is because it can encode to a Dolby Digital bitstream on the fly. Windows is told - rightly enough - that I have a 5.1 sound setup, which means it sends stereo sound to my amp as 2.0 PCM. The amp doesn't see any Pro Logic information this way (so voices comes out the left and right speakers), whereas it does if it gets 2.0 Dolby Digital (voices comes out of the centre speaker). I still use LAV for bitstreaming DD and DTS off DVDs, and the HD audio on blu-rays, but ac3filter is used for all Live TV/recording stuff. Iain

Did you configure LAV to process AC3? It is an option.

I think this is one for sub. I could not get audio in NPVR with this. If I create a graph in GraphEdit using "FileSource (Async)" and any demuxer, I get audio on the AC-3 track. If I create the graph with "NPVR TS Reader 2" and "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer", I get no audio. Checking the pid mappings on the demuxer showed that only the second audio stream was mapped to a pin. The AC-3 audio stream was not mapped.
I used the download from post #32 Edit: Renaming the file to .mkv (to force a different reader/demuxer but uses same audio decoder) allows me to play it back with audio in NPVR.

If you add the PreferAC3=1 registry setting, does it give you audio?
