Thanks Sub for adding the “EPG Collector” support as this will give access to the “Series ID” and “Unique programme ID” found under "episode-num" transmitted in the DVB-T data stream and used by UK Freeview PVRs. This is the main feature I have been waiting for because I currently delete most recordings as duplicates.

However in the EPG database I can see “unique_id” which I assume is the same as “Unique Programme ID” but can see nothing that could be the “series_id”. I have been using EPG Collector to produce an XMLTV EPG input file instead of the standard DVB EPG overnight update for almost 2 months so was sort of expecting the IDs to appear in the database after the EPG update for the new version of NextPVR.

Is the series_id present in your xmltv file? Maybe post a snippet for Sub to look at?

In North America, the unique_id is a combination of the series_id and sometimes but not always a show_id.

I'm probably going to need jcjefferies' one from the UK, since series numbers etc are done differently in the DVB parts of the world.

I think he wants you to parse the episode-num tag, he gives an example in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...dings-(NZ) Jaggy's file has some too.

Yeah, I know. It's supposed to already do this, so I'll check it on his file when he posts it.

Enclosed is cut down version of XML file from EPG Collector as the full one is 4MB. Below is a sample of a typical episode number entry:-

<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">/L3DR8K . /AX9JCG . 0</episode-num>

The first entry is the “Series ID” and the second is the “Programme ID”. So if the same programme is repeated later in the day they will have different “series ID” but the same “Programme ID”. Below are some with a slightly different format used by some channels, one without a “Programme ID” and another without “Series ID”

<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">/G_SKYB617343 . 0 . 0</episode-num> (Game Show)
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">/4SEV0120726315032407 . /54739/003 . 0</episode-num>
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">/52296 . /52296/003 . 0</episode-num>
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">0 . /45494/001 . 0</episode-num>(Film)

The attached patch will fix the unique_id not populating.

It wont populate 'series' and 'episode' columns though, since these are intended for real series/episode numbers (like series 2, episode 14). They're not intended to just hold unique identifiers (made up of random garbage).
