Hi all,

I just installed NECT PVR and am having issues playing live tv.

Set up is as follows
Windows XP all up to date, SP3 etc.
HD Homerun Dual tv tuner

I am able to find channels with Next PVR, initially I was unable to get any sound or video when clicking on live tv. I installed a different codec and I am now able to play video but it seems to stress my system to the point where it gets choppy and un-watchable.

Sometimes if I just click on one station and leave ti there it will be ok, but as soon as I pull up the channel guide or do anything else the program almost freezes.

I am able to watch tv using Quick TV the software that HD Homerun came with so it is not that the tuner doesn't work or y computer is too slow.

I am guessing it may be that I need different codecs for it to work?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Reproduce the problem and then zip and post your log files.

What CPU have you got in your machine, and what video card?

Thanks for the replies.

Video card is Nvidia geforce 7300 (just updated drivers last night).

Intel CPU dual core, I will get exact specs tonight.

How do I post logs?

Info on posting logs is in the sticky thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-info

Review the sticky on getting started at the top of the NPVR Support forum. Make sure you have all the prereq software installed. There are instructions for finding and posting the logs there.

That said, if you are receiving HD TV, your video card with XP may not be up to the task. You could try the VMR9FSE or Overlay video renderers to see if you get smooth playback. Both have some disadvantages, though. Win 7 with its EVR renderer would be better. My system with the 7600GT is the minimum I would recommend for HD.

Look for the heading 'NPVR LOGS' in this thread. You will also find some other excellent information about how to get started with NPVR.

I'd say we tied for gold based on the time stamps. Perhaps a shootout? We know who would win that! But, Sub was posting at about 4:37AM in NZ, so I think he wins on early riser even though he posted on Wednesday and we were a day before on Tuesday. But, maybe he's really ahead of us.
