Channel changer problems

I have migrated from XP to windows 7. Everything works fine except for the channel changer on my set top box
I use redeye2 and it changes channels fine from the command line. NPVR sees the set top box fine and will show whatever is playing on the STB, but cannot change the channel

I have feeling that in some way NPVR is confused by the previous installation on windows XP (I transferred the db and the config files amending as necessary).

Looks like the best way would be to start with a clean slate; but the config details for the changer are in the db3, I understand. How can I start from a clean slate without deleting the db3 file, which would be disaster with 400 gb of programs in the database

Are you suggesting that I export the whole db3, then delete it or rename it, then import the recordings into an empty db3??. Guess it would work, but what else is in the db3? Am I making more trouble for myself - especially if the problem is not the old settings hanging over. And why doesn't the setup program overwrite the old settings anyway??

I suspect it's a permissions issue, something to do with the fact that NRecord executes the channel changer as system rather than the local user you use when testing it. google search for "command prompt as local system", and test it that way.

I'd agree with that. But sorry, I can't remember what I did to get it working, it certainly wasn't much.

If the location of the changer program has changed, you will need to remove all the channels from the tuner and re-add them

However:

Channel changer works fine from a command prompt started as system (via pstools) so perhaps not permissions, unless I got something wrong

I did delete all the old channels and reloaded (one of) them. Will try again loading them all

All fixed now. Seemed to be all to do with spacing on the command line, and maybe not reloading channels completely. RedEye2 is quite picky about how you space the channel numbers and things like the OK signal. Needs a space after the Com Port assignment, but none thereafter
