First time setup: NZ FTA+Sky - Tuner won't pick up all the channels on D1

Hi,

I've been playing around with a number of PVR software and thought I would try this again, given that the last time I tried it was when it was GB-PVR. My problem is that I KNOW my LoF's (10750, standard sky LNB) and I know the channels are there and the 2x dual TBS 6891s work fine (mediaportal and 4therecord) but everytime I try a full scan in Next, it doesn't pick up any channels at all. It scans through the transponders but doesn't detect anything... I've stopped MP TVserver so Next is the only thing running...

Is there something special I have to do that I can't work out!?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't remember anything odd when I set mine up, I have attached a screenshot of my setup as a reference just in case I did something differently that you have done.

Hey Jaggy, thanks for the reply. It is really random going so far. I cannot seem to find all the channels at all on d1. i get a number of random ones appearing and that is it! No matter what I do I cannot get channels scanned. I'm using the built in D1 transponder file that is contained in the latest download.

Edit: So when i try to play a channel it creates the timeshift buffer but will not stream anything!

So you are (now?) getting some of them showing up? Maybe try LOF1:10750 LOFSwitch:0 LOF2:10750 & see if that makes a difference (I have seen some others that need to do that) Then I guess the next step after that is to zip & upload your logs after you have done a scan.

Nope it is still not working properly. I don't seem to be able to get a consistant scan of the transponders. Each time I run a scan I get a different result, sometimes nothing, sometimes the odd channel. Most amount of channels got of the full D1 list is 18!

Here are my logs (any more just ask). Although I run an MDApi config, in this instance I have enabled multidec but not actually set it up, but then I can't even get it to stream C4 or other free to air channels! Another note, it does seem to create the buffer file BUT again it won't read it and when I click through windows, it is sitting at 0Kb in size...

The dedicated HTPC is as follows:

AMD Phenom II x720
12Gb Ram
500GB HDD
Windows 7 x64 HP
nVidia GT520 (output via HDMI)
2 x TBS 6981 tuner cards (dual DVB-S/S2)
Omnikey, OSCam & MDApi 2009 fall v3.

As said, MP TVserver runs flawlessly with this setup (partner is watching tv at the moment) so I don't know why I can't get NPVR to work!

Does it make any difference to the scan results if you disable multidec?

You could also try setting <TuneTwiceOnDigitalChannels>true</TuneTwiceOnDigitalChannels> in the <Recording> section of config.xml to see if it makes any difference.

Yes it is very odd, scanning with or without multidec makes no difference to the outcome.

Added that section to the config and it still has issues. Honestly do not know why it is doing this, I know my LoF frequencies (standard Sky NZ dual throat LNB), I know the cards work and they do pick up some channels. Within MP or 4tr when scanning, it has a signal strength meter and quality meter, does NPVR have something similar so that I can at least tell that it has locked on to the sat correctly?

Well I'll have another go tonight and see if I can get it working... I'll post logs after the scan. Is it worth creating a new D1 ini file as the transponders have changed slightly since the ones in this version... is NVPR able to NIT scan satellites?

Yep, give it a go. I'm only using the two Freeview transponders. The others could easily be out of date.

No it doesnt use the NIT.
