Hi

I've only just upgraded from GBPVR to NPVR (2.5.9) in my system that has Hauppauge Nova-T 500.
I've got it mostly working OK, but one problem I'm having is as per the subject line.

I'm running Windows XP on a Duron 1.3GHz with 1G RAM and an ATI Radeon 7200 Graphics card, just using S-Video out to TV.

I've attached the NPVR log and the recording log.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Chris

you're getting graph-stop hangs.

update your Nova-T driver if possible, and also enable "out of process digital recording" in Settings->Recording. if the problem recurrs, post logs again and make sure you include the new ndigitalhost logs.

Also being as you are still using XP (I am fairly sure) you will need to install the windows dvb fix to be able to use both tuners on your Nova-T-500 at the same time without it most likely crashing.

oh, yeah, I always forget about that DVB fix thing (I never needed it myself, as when I was on XP I ran SP2, and switched to Vista and then 7 a long time ago). And of course, it did happen as soon as he tried to use the second tuner. All the livetv watching earlier in the log using the first tuner went fine.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.
Jaggy, do you imply that the DVB fix isn't required on XP SP2?
That is what I am using as, when I was originally getting all of this working SP3 had an unresolved problem where it was causing BSOD crashes with the Nova-T 500, so I installed SP2 and disabled upgrades.

I will look up the DVB fix anyway.

Thanks again

Microsoft released a patch containing the files in DVBfix but then overwrote it later in the service pack. I had to install the patch to stop crashes when using two tuners. However my setup with the fix NPVR would not correctly scan for channels so had to remove the fix to scan then reinstall it for normal use. Installing Vista was a far better fix.

I'm the one that suggested it isn't needed with SP2: my understanding was that the DVB Fix swapped in the SP2 version of the offending DLL to fix the problem introduced by SP3, but some other later update might have introduced the same problem even without SP3. However, as I said I never actually used DVBFix myself, and haven't used XP on my HTPC for several years.

I'd suggest if you continue to have issues, go ahead and update to SP3 with all other updates, then apply the DVB Fix.

OK, I've done this and based on a test last night nothing seems to be broken and using both tuners seems to work.

However, I am still getting freezes when watching TV (not sure about recordings yet). Sometimes the video will freeze and the audio continue, in which case it is recoverable by pressing escape to go back to EPG, but other times everything will freeze and nothing (including ctl+alt+del) will work - it has to be a hard reset.

I will send logs later if it will help but I wonder whether this is the same thing as in another active thread I've seen: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...on-Clients

I have also made sue my graphics card and hauppauge drivers are up to date
