Album art. Current conventions?

What are the current conventions of names for album art (and other media images)?

Looking at my music folders, for example, I see a variety of images in various album sub-folders...

Code:

AlbumArt__Large.jpg // NOTE: two underscores
AlbumArt__Small.jpg // Again, two underscores
AlbumArtSmall.jpg
Folder.jpg // Presumably for music plugins to give folders artwork???
AlbumArt_{<GUID>}_Large.jpg
AlbumArt_{<GUID>}_Small.jpg

So which of those file names are used by npvr / plugins and also what are the valid formats other than .jpg (if any)?

I'm pretty sure it looks for folder.png/folder.jpg, or the same filename as the audio file but with the .jpg/.png file extension.

OK thanks. I've a feeling the ones with the GUID might be from ripping CDs with Windows Media Player now I think about it. I'll concentrate on folder.png/.jpg to begin with.
