Hi there,

Is there anyway to get TVLisiting to completely replace the internal listing program. My wife is getting confused because from the main menu you go into TVListing but if you press guide on the MCE remote you go into the old listing.

For the remote in config.xml you can change the <DefaultTVGuide> to TV Listings if you'd like. You can disable The built in guide entirely in the Setting->Plugins

I did turn off the builtin guide in Setting->Plugins, but it still comes back up when you press guide.

I'll look at the <DefaultTVGuide> key and try that.

Okay tried the DefaultTVGuide key and it briefly shows TV Listings then crashes the guide. I guess it is not possible to replace....

I'm not sure what is happening with your setup, but I have done exactly what has been suggested here, and it works fine for me.

Weird, so I edited the key and replaced "TV Guide" with "TV Listings". Is this what you did?

If I press the guide button on my remote then it popped up disappeared and required me to end the NextPVR task and start it again. Am I doing something wrong?

In config.xml, I have this:

Code:
<PluginSettings>
    <DefaultTVGuide>TV Listings</DefaultTVGuide>
    <DefaultVideo>Videos</DefaultVideo>
    <DefaultMusic>MusicMonkey</DefaultMusic>
    <DefaultPictures>Pictures</DefaultPictures>
    <DefaultRadio>none</DefaultRadio>
    <DefaultRecordings>TV Recordings</DefaultRecordings>
     ....other stuff
</PluginSettings>

When I hit the guide button on my remote, the TV Listings plugin displays just like selecting it from the main menu. Not sure what might be happening for you, but if you have any error messages, maybe someone can help.

I'm not sure if there are restrictions when you can make changes to config.xml (stopping the recording service, etc), so I can't say if there is a problem with you there. Did you try setting it back to "TV Guide" and making sure it doesn't bomb off with the default there?

So I tried this again, modified the file then rebooted just to be sure.

Initial press of guide worked, the schedule came up. I selected a channel to watch waited for it to appear and then press guide again. The epg appeared, disappeared then everything went stuck for a bit followed by an Unhandled exception dialog claiming somewhere in OnKeydown there was a null variable..... Didn't seem to be any way to dump the dialog but it was a normal VS looking dialog with a hierarchy of OnKeyDowns going back down the tree, the top one was for TV Listings.

I hadn't tried bringing up the guide during live tv, so I tried that out, with similar results to what you had - I didn't really see the listings, but apparently they were there, as hitting other things on the remote didn't act as expected. When I tried to stop live tv, I got an unhandled exception dialog like you.

Unfortunately this has never worked, which is why I don't use TV Listings though I'd very much like to. I'm not sure what stops TV Listings from working as an overlay. On my setup I don't even have a menu entry for Live TV or TV Guide; all access is via a key on the remote to bring up the TV Guide whether from the main menu or from within Live TV.
