My config.xml has ...
Code:
<EPGUpdateHour>None</EPGUpdateHour>
    <EPGUpdateTime>13:20:00</EPGUpdateTime>
    <EPGUpdateEnabled>false</EPGUpdateEnabled>
and yet my nrecord.log has
Quote:2013-04-01 13:20:02.515 [DEBUG][8] EPG Updates Disabled
2013-04-01 13:20:02.515 [DEBUG][8] Cancelling wake up request for for 'EPGWAKEUP'
2013-04-01 13:20:02.515 [DEBUG][8] Wakeup time has changed...
2013-04-01 13:20:02.515 [DEBUG][8] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP' at 02/04/2013 13:20
It would seem that NextPVR wakes up my computer so that it can tell itself that it doesn't need to do an auto EPG update and then tells Windows to wake the computer at the same time tomorrow so that it can tell itself again that it doesn't need to do an EPG update.

I'm kinda hoping that NextPVR can be persuaded to tell itself that it doesn't need to do an auto EPG update before it goes to sleep so that my computer can sleep undisturbed.

Sub isn't the only one who can skim read Wink

Did it actually wake up then, or are they just messages that print out if it happens to be on at the time? I have the updates disabled on mine and it hasn't been waking (to my knowledge) but I'd need to double check to be sure.

I thought that ... so I put the machine to sleep and watched it wake up to not do an EPG update.

You're right enough, mine has just woken up to not do an update too. Maybe I never noticed because it used to be on for 10 or so minutes to do an update, but since I've turned them off it would spend a lot less time on if it was forced awake to then do nothing.

I've only just switched to manual updates because I can't trust the auto ones anymore as my tuner breaks any live tv or in-progress recordings when DVBGuide tries to use it.

There should be an option in DVBGuide to check if a tuner is busy or not but I cannot find it. What about NscriptHelper, can it check a specific tuner for in-use or not?

The problem is the card - a dual tuner TBS 6891 - craps out when anything attempts to query its busy state. If you were watching live tv on one tuner, and then DVBGuide, the live tv would break at the point it queries. I don't think it gets far enough to say "I'm busy; don't use me". It's a bug in the card's drivers - others have reported it on their forums but they seem uninterested in fixing it (or don't understand the issue).

In the short term, I've rolled my own solution via tweaks to the System plugin that will check if the tuners are in use and only run the EPG update if they aren't. NPVR technically doesn't check for busy or not (at the driver level) - it just assumes it always has exclusive access and maintains its own internal list of what's in use.

Have you had a look at NscriptHelper?

I'm asking because I need a mechanism myself, I'v placed the dvbguide run at 8:00am where it is rarely any recordings, but sometimes I'm watching the news and it's kind'a annoying to be cut off in the middle of the weather forecast or something else interesting.
